Cathlamet resident Shari McKay grabbed her camera to record the temperature reading on June 27; it said 113 degrees, but by the time she could shoot the photo, it dropped to 112.

The heat dome burned many trees, leaving them with dry, orange tips. Apples, too, and decorative shrubs such as camellias and rhododendrons suffered from the heat dome temperatures June 25-26.
