SR 401 remains closed between Naselle and Astoria bridge

On the morning of Oct. 27, a slide blocked SR 401 between Knappton Road south of Naselle and the Astoria/Meglar bridge.

On Friday, the Washington State Department of Transportation annouced they have no estimated date for reopening SR 401 between Naselle and the Astoria bridge. Here's their latest announcement:

WSDOT ALERT UPDATE: SR 401 - remains CLOSED in both directions between the Astoria-Megler Bridge (milepost 0.0) and Knappton Road (milepost 9.0) due to debris covering the roadway

LOCATION: SR 401 – between the Astoria-Megler Bridge (milepost 0.0) and Knappton Road (milepost 9.0) remains CLOSED in both directions - in Pacific County

DESCRIPTION: State Route 401, between the Astoria-Megler Bridge (milepost 0.0) and Knappton Road (milepost 9.0) will remain CLOSED in both directions due to a debris slide covering the roadway. WSDOT Geotechnical crews are closely monitoring the situation to help determine next steps. There is no ETA for reopening the roadway at this time. Travelers who need access on either side of the closure on SR 401 can detour using SR 4 and US 101.
