Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

October 24 — 12:30 p.m. A caller reported that a disabled vehicle was blocking the westbound lane of SR 4 near Nassa Point. 12:54 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to a report of a power outage in the Skamokawa area. The PUD was notified and power was restored by 3:24 p.m. 12:55 p.m. A large branch fell into the eastbound lane of SR 4 near Skamokawa. The state patrol was notified. 1:45 p.m. A caller said there was a lot of debris partially blocking the westbound lane of SR 4 just east of Rosedale. 6:11 p.m. A caller said that two dogs belonging to a neighbor on Risk Road were continually getting loose and attacking her cats and chickens. She was concerned that the dogs were neglected. A deputy warned the owner that he needed to contain the dogs or risk having them deemed potentially dangerous. 6:19 p.m. A caller said he was cut off by a driver on a Puget Island road. The driver then drove through a stop sign and turned into the driveway of a storage facility. Deputies responded and were unable to locate the vehicle. 7:12 p.m. A fire alarm was activated at a Rosedale address. The Cathlamet Fire Department and the District 4 Fire Department responded. A responsible person said there was no fire. 9:33 p.m. A caller reported hearing an alarm nearby. It turned out to be a fuel alarm at a Rosedale business. 10 p.m. A caller reported a sexual assault. 10:52 p.m. A Puget Island resident who was concerned about the wind storm called 911 to see if they still had phone service.

October 25 — 4:07 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported suspicious activity nearby. He saw people shining lights. 10:03 a.m. A Skamokawa parent became concerned after her daughter received solicitation over the phone. 4:39 p.m. A caller said there were large, sharp rocks in the middle of a blind curve in the westbound lane of SR in the Little Cape Horn area. A deputy was in the area and said he did not see anything. 9:21 p.m. A woman flagged down deputies on Main Street in Cathlamet. She said that her belongings had gotten locked in a public bathroom when she exited. A deputy tried to make contact with a responsible party to gain access to the bathroom. He advised that follow up was needed to make sure the woman was able to clear out all of her belongings. 10:56 p.m. A caller reported that a suspicious vehicle had been stopping at different locations on a Deep River road and was currently at a vacant house. A deputy responded and was unable to locate the vehicle.

October 26 — 2:57 a.m. A caller appeared to be having a mental health crisis. Initially, a deputy determined that it was not a law enforcement issue, and that the mental health department should be called. At 3:04 a.m. a vehicle could be heard in the background, and the subject started honking his horn and yelling “get out.” The honking horn and screaming continued until the call was disconnected. Dispatch called back and the man said he had crashed his car into a ditch. He screamed that something was behind him and that his vehicle was sinking. He made his way to Norse Hall and then to the nearby fire station. A deputy, the Puget Island Fire Department and the Cathlamet ambulance responded. A representative from the mental health department was requested. The man’s vehicle was found nearby and a tow was called. The man went willingly to the hospital for an evaluation. 10:57 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported that someone was trespassing. A deputy responded and the person was trespassed. 2:15 p.m. After the driver sped into the parking lot of a Rosedale business, the owner asked him to slow down. The driver sped away and then called the owner to say she was going to lose business. He chased the owner to a nearby church and passed her, yelling profanities. A deputy responded and spoke with both parties. The man said he would not return to the business and would tell people not to go there. 3:14 p.m. A caller said there was water on Eden Valley Road. 3:43 p.m. A leak was found in a water tank. The caller said it looked like a bullet hole. A representative from the public works was notified. He said he would contact the caller for more information.

October 27 — 12:02 a.m. A caller said there was a tree blocking SR 4 near Cape Horn. A deputy responded and found a large branch over the road. He was able to remove the debris and the branch. 8:17 a.m. A welfare check was requested for a Skamokawa resident. 8:19 a.m. A domestic disturbance was reported at a Grays River residence. The caller said there may be weapons in the home. Deputies responded and an individual was arrested. 9:49 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance and the Puget Island Fire Department aided a Puget Island resident who had fallen. 11:45 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that someone had broken into his shop and stolen some tools. 3:30 p.m. An alarm was activated at an Elochoman Valley address. 5:10 p.m. A wallet was found at a Rosedale business. A deputy contacted the owner. 6:59 p.m. A caller reported a reckless driver on a Cathlamet road. 7:41 p.m. A caller reported an assault in Cathlamet. A deputy and AMR responded. The subject had left the scene and was believed to be headed towards Longview. 10:44 p.m. A warrant was served at a Cathlamet address and evidence was secured.

October 28 — 4:03 a.m. A caller reported an injured deer on Beaver Creek Road. 7:26 a.m. A welfare check was requested for a Rosedale resident. 12:58 p.m. An individual was trespassed after she was rude and belligerent to property owners in Skamokawa. 4:43 p.m. A power outage was reported on Middle Valley Road. The Skamokawa Fire Department and the PUD responded. Power was restored to all homes by 10:36 p.m. 4:53 p.m. A tree was down and blocking East Valley Road. The county road department was notified. 8:25 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident complaining of low blood pressure and a high heart rate. 8:35 p.m. A caller reported that water was over Covered Bridge Road. 9:13 p.m. A car had stalled and was abandoned in the water after a driver tried to traverse Covered Bridge Road. The county road department could not access the vehicle.

October 29 — 12:54 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who had fallen. 9:43 a.m. A caller reported a speeding vehicle on a Deep River Road. 10:50 a.m. A Deep River resident reported harassment. A deputy spoke with the caller and determined that no crime had been committed but instructed the caller to get a no contact order. 2:02 p.m. A caller said he paid for an item in January and that it had never been delivered. He was advised that it was a civil issue. 5:05 p.m. A Cathlamet business owner asked a deputy to check a vehicle parked in her parking lot before she had it towed. 6:06 p.m. A caller saw a man lying on the side of the road in Cathlamet. She said he had a walker and some bags. Dispatch received multiple calls about the subject. A deputy said he would check on the man. He refused transportation, aid, or assistance from the mental health department. He said he would continue west. Another call came in about the man at 8:58 p.m., when he was seen lying by the side of SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley area. Deputies responded and he refused any help before continuing west. State patrol was notified. 8:21 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had fallen. 9:21 p.m. Four people were involved in a disturbance at a Puget Island home. Alcohol was involved.

October 30 — 12:14 a.m. Skamokawa emergency personnel aided a West Valley resident with a swollen leg. 5:32 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident complained about a neighbor’s barking dogs. 2:59 p.m. A caller said he met with some people to sell a truck at a Rosedale business. He said they threatened him after trying to take the truck without paying for it. Deputies responded and spoke with the caller who said the people had tried to pay with a check but he wanted cash. He was advised to get a no contact order. 3:52 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver on SR 4 in the Skamokawa area. State patrol was notified. 5:04 p.m. A caller said a water tower in the Elochoman Valley area appeared to have a bullet hole in it and was leaking water. 7:17 p.m. A domestic disturbance was reported at a Cathlamet home. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an individual who may have had alcohol poisoning. 9:17 p.m. A caller reported an underage party in the Rosburg area. Several cars were half parked on the road, obstructing traffic. 10:38 p.m. A caller said he was unable to start his car, which was parked on Main Street in Cathlamet. He said he would try to get it started the next day. 10:59 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Skamokawa resident who was in a lot of pain.

October 31 — 3:24 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident with breathing issues.
