The Wahkiakum Farm 2 Fiber Festival begins on Friday at the Wahkiakum County Fairgrounds in Skamokawa and goes through the weekend.

There are a lot of classes being offered, and there will be demonstrations, and vendors too.

Willing students can learn about wet felting, needle felting, tatting, knitting, punch needles, rug hooking, spinning, and more.

One teacher is coming from Sequim, and another is coming from Montana to teach punch needle classes.

Walk ins are welcome, but to sign up for classes in advance, or see a schedule of the weekend’s events, look for the Wahkiakum Farm 2 Fiber Festival Facebook page, or go to the Wahkiakum County Fair’s website.

“It’s our second annual fiber festival,” Organizer Lori Cagle said. “The highlights will probably be the Pygora goat show and the sheep herding demonstration.”

The Pygora goat show starts at 10 a.m. on Sunday, and the sheep herding demonstration is at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

There will also be sheep shearing on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the sheep shearer, Pony Jacobson, is done. Jacobson also shears goats, llamas, and alpaca.

“He’s really good and he’s fast,” Cagle said. “He does all the big farms across the midwest. He’s really good about answering questions and demonstrating.”
