Crab feed tops out with 500 diners

The Wahkiakum Chamber of Commerce's 37th annual Crab and Oyster Feed at Columbia River Ranch was a big success, according to Chamber Director Monica Budd.
"Everybody loved it more than last year," Budd said. "Every year it just improves."

This year there were more heaters to keep everyone warm while they enjoy oysters, crab, corn on the cob, coleslaw, potato salad and rolls, as well as desserts provided by The Spar, and beer from River Mile 38 Brewery. DJ Steve Carson of Computer Link NW provided the music, and people really seemed to appreciate being able to reserve tables for the first time.
Budd said that the chamber received over 60 donations from local businesses for the raffle, totaling over $6,000 in value.
"Donating to this raffle is a chain of events," she said. "The money raised goes to everything we do to put on Bald Eagle Days. The fireworks, the Honeybuckets, everything."
The event was completely sold out, with two seatings of 250 people each, which Budd believes was easier on volunteers and everyone involved in putting on the event.
"There were a lot of volunteers and a lot of donations," Budd said. "It couldn't happen without them or our beautiful venue."
