Wiltse-Hiatt and Wahkiakum Mules girls are individual and team champs at district golf tournament

The Wahkiakum High School girls golf team won their first ever 2B District 4 title at Mint Valley Golf Course last week. The Mule girls are, from left to right, eighth grader Brienna Cothren, junior Avrey Wiltse-Hiatt, and freshman Jessie LeFever. Wiltse-Hiatt took first place in district, Cothren placed second, and LeFever came in fourth. They headed to the state tournament this week with another Mule, Sebastian Britt. Brodie Avalon goes as alternate.

Wahkiakum High School junior Avrey Wiltse-Hiatt won the 2B District 4 golf tournament at the Mint Valley Golf Course in Longview last week, leading the Mule girls golf team to their first ever 2B District 4 win. She scored a 180 in the two day 36-hole event, hitting a 91 on the first day and improving her score by two shots the following day for an 89. The Mules girls are rounded out with eighth grader Brie Cothren, who took second place at district with a 190 and freshman Jessie LeFever took fourth with a 222.

Mule golfer Sebastian Britt placed fourth in boys district competition and is headed to state.

All three are headed to the state tournament this week at Tumwater Valley Golf Course, which started Tuesday and ended yesterday (Wednesday.)

Senior Sebastian Britt will join them in Tumwater as the lone representative for the Mule boys. He placed fourth at district with a 182. Senior Brodie Avalon, who scored 193, did not make the cut, but will join the Mules as an alternate.

Junior Zakk Carlson finished his season in twelfth place at district. He scored 211 in the two day event.
