Happy Anniversary wishes go out to Mr. and Mrs. Zack Bonds and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Vik. May all of you have terrific celebrations on your special days!

AT THE SKAMOKAWA GRANGE. All are welcome to come to the Community Breakfast served up every Thursday at the Skamokawa Grange Hall, located at 18 Fairgrounds Road from 10 a.m. until noon. Bring a snack to share if you like and maybe your own favorite mug to use, and join the group of folks who like to get together and gab a bit and get to know their neighbors. This time of year the hall is bustling with shoeboxes and wrapping paper and folks putting together Shoeboxes of Joy. You are invited to help put them together, or to drop off things that to donate, so that all the boxes are filled with items that one might like to receive on Christmas. Household staples are nice, and a few treats thrown in are appreciated too. This program is directed at low income, elderly and disabled folks who may not have family nearby. Think of all the things you might like to see in a box if you were receiving one, and fill up a shoebox to donate! If you can fill one and wrap one, that's terrific, but if you can just donate a box, or some wrapping paper, tape or items to put in a box, that would be very much appreciated! If you want more info, call 360-795-5208.

FLEA MARKET. Don't forget to head this way and check out all the items for sale at the Wahkiakum County Fairgrounds on Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m. There will be an array of items for you to choose from both new and old at this monthly event. For more info call 360-795-3480.

REDMEN HALL. While you're in Skamokawa be sure to go up to the historic Redmen Hall and check out their holiday sale at their gift and book shop. There are lots of great local items for sale. The hall features these through Dec. 10, so don't delay. Stop on by! Call 360-795-3007 or email fos1894@gmail.com.

A LOCAL TREASURE. Yes indeed, it's that time of year when local artisan, Treasure Collupy, holds his annual Holiday Glass Gift Show. And what great gifts they are to give and to receive. Be sure to head to the lobby of the Hotel Cathlamet this Friday, Dec. 8, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 9, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to pick up a gorgeous piece of handblown glass in an array of colors and a variety of shapes and sizes. I have several and I love them all. Are you looking for something in particular? Contact Treasure and see if he has it already made. 360-560-6294.

CONDOLENCES. We were very sorry to learn of the passing of Dale Dutcher and Ruth "Genie" Cary. They were both wonderful folks and will be truly missed by all that knew them and of course, their loved ones....we offer our sincerest condolences to them. I didn’t know Ron Wiest Sr. but I do know part of his family and I want to send my sincere sympathies to them for the loss of their loved one.

LASAGNA DINNER & BINGO. Lore Twiet hopes that everyone comes to the Wahkiakum County Fairgrounds here in Skamokawa on Sunday to enjoy a no-cooking-dinner day with a lasagna supper being served up from noon to 4 p.m. This gathering will take place just prior to the bingo games that begin at 4 p.m. It’s a fun time at the fairgrounds this Sunday! Come on down!

RETIRING. I enjoyed the story in last week’s Eagle about retiring staff member, Geri Florek. She has been a constant at this paper, and I will miss her. Geri has been at The Eagle almost as long as I have been writing this column. She has had to put up with my crazy computer, weird layouts, and my additions and corrections for all these years. I truly appreciate her patience with all of it. I wish her the very best as she enjoys a much-deserved break from all this work! Thank you, Geri. Enjoy your retirement!

NEED A PART TIME JOB? If you have some computer skills and some people skills too, this paper is looking for a part-time ad person. You can even do this job from home if you like. If you want to know more about this opportunity, give The Eagle office a call at 360-795-3391 today, or email brandon@waheagle.com, and join our team!
