January 29 — 9:58 a.m. An empty kayak was seen drifting down the Columbia River near County Line Park. The caller said he saw a hat on a piece of driftwood near the kayak, but the hat disappeared. The U.S. Coast Guard was notified but were unable to respond at that time. Authorities from Cowlitz County responded. 10:02 a.m. A Rosedale resident reported that her mailbox was broken into while she was out of town. 6:19 p.m. A Cathlamet resident said she and her friend were being harassed. A deputy advised the individual of available protection orders and said they would increase patrols in the area. 7:31 p.m. A caller reported a flatbed truck without tail lights. 11:12 p.m. A caller reported hearing a transformer blow in the Rosedale area. Multiple callers reported power outages. The PUD responded and power was restored by 11:57 p.m. 11:21 p.m. A caller said that a tree caught fire when a transformer blew in the Rosedale area, but there were only embers now. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded and found there was no fire at that time. They removed tree branches from the road.

January 30 2:03 a.m. A deputy checked on two suspicious vehicles parked in front of a Skamokawa business. 7:31 a.m. An individual called about a vehicle that appeared to be abandoned on Beaver Creek Road. It had been there for three weeks. Authorities in Cowlitz County were notified. 4:22 p.m. A caller said a deceased deer was in a ditch along North Welcome Slough Road. The county road department was notified. 7:50 p.m. A caller reported a small unattended fire on the walking trail between the marina and Strong Park. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded. 8:10 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Cathlamet resident.

January 31 11:01 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a clinic patient with high blood pressure to the hospital. 11:05 a.m. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle parked at an odd angle near a Skamokawa business. A deputy responded and advised the employee that the vehicle could be towed. 2:02 p.m. An individual stopped by the sheriff’s office to speak to deputies about ongoing harassment and was advised to apply for a protection order. 11 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident who was complaining of chest pain.

February 112:47 a.m. A subject was stopped by a deputy. 8:01 a.m. A caller reported that a dog was running loose on SR 4. The animal was caught and taken to a residence. The Wahkiakum Animal Advocates Group was notified. 10:29 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Rosedale resident. 10:34 a.m. A tree was down, blocking both lanes of SR 4 in Grays River. 12:18 p.m. A Grays River resident reported a power outage. The PUD was notified. 1:43 p.m. A caller said a power line was smoking on a power pole in the Rosburg area. The PUD said they were aware of the issue. 4:11 p.m. The sheriff’s department was notified by Cowlitz County authorities that a Mill Creek resident was reporting that someone had been firing rounds and they were landing on their property.

February 2 — 9:06 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a clinic patient to the hospital. The individual passed out after hitting her head on a wall. 10:26 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported trespassers on her property. A deputy responded and found a Town of Cathlamet vehicle parked in front of her gate. He left a message for the person to call the town if she had further questions. 2:09 p.m. A student at a Wahkiakum school was found with drug paraphernalia. 5:03 p.m. An individual removing equipment from a property in Deep River for the owners reported that it appeared that someone was tampering with the equipment. 6:22

p.m. A caller said an elk was struck by a driver on SR 4 in the Deep River area. There were car parts all over the road, the caller said, and the elk was in the ditch. 6:55 p.m. A caller reported hitting an elk in Deep River. She said she wasn’t injured but her truck was damaged.

February 3 — 2:44 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident who broke her leg in a fall. 10:04 a.m. A Rosedale resident reported a sewer issue. The town was notified. 12:02 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Puget Island resident. 6:04 p.m. The Grays River ambulance and the Grays River Fire Department responded to a home on Altoona/Pillar Rock Road to aid an individual who was not responding normally after a possible seizure. 9 p.m. Deputies responded to the brewery after a man who said he’d gotten kicked out of another local bar showed signs of aggression and threatened to “shoot people up.” The caller said the man was outside and the brewery doors were locked. The man was found by deputies in a vehicle near the fuel pumps at the marina. He continued to be aggressive. A person who knew the individual said the man had guns but was unlikely to be carrying. He was put on the phone with the individual. State patrol was on scene and reporting that the person was noncompliant, trespassing, and refusing to pay for a yurt. A deputy later noted that a payment was secured for the yurt.

February 4 — 9:03 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident complaining of chest pain. 9:23 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance provided a lift assist for a Rosedale resident who had fallen. 11:40 a.m. A caller reported a deceased deer in the middle of Elochoman Valley Road. The county road department responded. 3:40 p.m. A caller from the U.S. Coast Guard reported American Cruise Lines would be conducting flare training at Tongue Point from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. 11:12 p.m. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle with a broken window parked on a logging road off SR 4 near the summit of KM. A welfare check was requested for the registered owner. A voicemail was left for the individual. 11:46 p.m. A caller accidentally dialed
