ROHM raises funds with memorial pavers

As Rainier awaits the much-anticipated opening of the Rainier Oregon History Museum (ROHM) at its new building later this summer, the non-profit is looking to raise funds in a unique way by offering memorial pavers for one's self, a family member, or other loved ones, even pets. Funds created from the pavers will go to support the museum's general operations.

"The people on the bricks are the history of Rainier and it's honoring our families and different people from here," said ROHM Board Member and Volunteer Delyla Laughlin. "I would love for people who had businesses here for a long time to pop up and honor their families or their business. You can honor lots of people beyond family; a teacher, a pastor, law enforcement, or just anyone in your life you want to honor. The brick is guaranteed forever, so if something ever happens, the company we're working with will replace it for free."

According to the ROHM Facebook page, the "Rainier, Oregon Historical Museum is a place for those who share an interest in collecting, preserving and sharing images and histories of our small town."

The museum is aiming to have 100 bricks reserved for the initial order but 300 bricks will be installed with blank bricks replaced with memorial bricks as people continue to purchase them. The display will be to the left of the entrance, and Laughlin plans on making an illustrative map to make it easy to find specific ones and see who else is listed.

Each brick is $150 with three different layout styles offered, including the ability to choose an image from a selection of clip art such as icons for sports, animals, religion, seals or badges, among others options.

Forms to order the bricks can be found at the Rainier Riverfront Center (Rainier Senior Center) and online at donate.brickmarkers.com/rainier. Order forms can be mailed with payment to Rainier Oregon Historical Museum, P.O. Box 762, Rainier, OR 97048. Make checks payable to Rainier Oregon Historical Museum.
