OHSET team prepares for region

Rainier High School's OHSET (Oregon High School Equestrian Teams) team had a standout showing at this year’s State Meet, with several achievements to celebrate. Most notably, sophomore Josie Zimmer earned a top five placement in the highly competitive Working Rancher event and will be representing Rainier and the Northwest district at the OHSET Regional Meet, from June 19–22 in Redmond, Ore. Josie’s success at state doesn’t end there—she also earned the title of reserve champion for Performance High Point, marking her as one of the top performance competitors in the district. Josie’s hard work, dedication and connection with her horse truly shone through in each of her events.

In addition to individual accomplishments, the Rainier OHSET team made school history by being named Champion Medium School in the Northwest district. This title reflects the combined efforts and consistent performance of the entire team throughout the season. This season has been full of accomplishments. From impressive individual rides to strong team performances, Rainier’s OHSET team has demonstrated determination, sportsmanship, and passion for equestrian sport at every level of competition.

Whether you're an experienced rider or just starting out, OHSET is a great way to challenge yourself, build friendships and represent your school with pride. Huge congratulations go out to our whole team and all the accomplishments they have all made this season. As Josie prepares for Regionals in Redmond, the Rainier community stands proudly behind her and the OHSET team. Best of luck to Josie. Rainier will be cheering her on every step of the way. If you’re interested in joining the team next year or just want to learn more about OHSET, feel free to reach out to any of the current team members: Riley Underwood, Ollie Hoffman, Taylor Johns, Emma Soderstrom or Josie Zimmer.

Riley Underwood is a student in the Rainier School District. Student submissions are welcome. Send emails to kirk@waheagle.com.
