Sheriff's Report

June 23 4:33 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies performed a wellness check on a Cathlamet resident who had not been seen in several days. The resident was found alive and well. 9:50 p.m. The Cathlamet Ambulance responded to assist a Puget Island resident who was severely ill and having trouble breathing.

June 24 1:33 a.m. Cathlamet Emergency Services responded to transport an elderly Puget Island resident to the hospital for difficulty breathing and severe hand pain. 9:13 a.m. A Skamokawa resident called to report receiving a scam text about an unresolved traffic ticket. 10:05 a.m. A caller on Mill Creek reported an erratic driver who had been driving erratically and was now pulled over. 11:25 a.m. A Puget Island resident called to report that, while walking on Little Island Road, they and their two small dogs were attacked multiple times by a dog whose owner could not get control of it. 1:59 p.m. The Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call, which disconnected. Deputies located the Cathlamet resident who had accidentally pocket dialed while mowing the lawn.

June 25 7:28 p.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report fraudulent charges on their credit card and was advised to come in to speak with a deputy. 9:35 p.m. The Cathlamet Ambulance responded to assist an elderly Cathlamet resident who was experiencing a sudden onset of vision problems. 9:58 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported hearing shots fired near N Welcome Slough Road from two individuals. 11:35 p.m. A Rosburg resident returned from being out of town and found the lock on their trailer broken and several items stolen, including a Shop-Vac and a box of baseball cards.

June 26 1:32 a.m. Cathlamet Emergency Services responded to provide an elderly Cathlamet resident with a lift assist after they slipped and fell. 6:22 a.m. An employee from an asset recovery company called to inform the Sheriff’s Office that they would be repossessing a vehicle in the area. 8:56 a.m. The Cathlamet Ambulance responded to assist an elderly resident of Cathlamet who had fallen. 1:40 p.m. A driver on SR4 called to report a stalled vehicle on the road near Wildwood Ln. 6:33 p.m. After receiving complaints about an unknown vehicle parked on the side of Riverview East Rd for several hours, Sheriff’s deputies went to investigate. They found that the driver inside was okay, just tired and resting.

June 27 8:21 a.m. A concerned citizen notified the Sheriff’s Office that one of the garage sales on the island was selling ammo. Deputies advised them that no illegal activity had occurred. 8:26 a.m. A Rosburg resident called to report that there was a syringe in their parking lot, which they believed to be heroin. 8:54 a.m. The Puget Island Fire Department responded to extinguish a grass fire on the side of Little Island Road. 3:42 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies assisted a Cathlamet resident who locked their keys in their vehicle. 4:07 p.m. A caller on SR4 requested a wellness check be conducted on a young person sitting outside of a local business. 6:22 p.m. The PUD was notified after there were reports of power lines down at the intersection of SR4 and Una Ave. 11:52 p.m. The Cathlamet Ambulance responded to transport an elderly resident of Cathlamet to the hospital due to high blood pressure and illness.

June 28 7:09 a.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report that their neighbor frequently speeds through the neighborhood on an ATV. A deputy patrolled the area and reported seeing no ATVs in use. 9:41 a.m. A Puget Island resident called to report that a houseboat nearby had been sinking over the last few days. The houseboat was reportedly partially submerged, and they were concerned it would begin floating downstream and damage private docks. 11:43 a.m. The Skamokawa Fire Department responded to a dumpster fire at Vista Park and successfully extinguished it. 12:49 p.m. Cathlamet Emergency Services responded to transport a confused and ill Cathlamet resident to the hospital. 3:05 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident called to report that a young person they did not know had rung their doorbell and asked for help. The resident said the mother came and picked them up, but was requesting a wellness check on them. 3:18 p.m. A Rosburg resident reported their 18-foot flatbed trailer was stolen from the property on Rosburg Community Hall Road. 4:44 p.m. A driver on Oneida Road in Naselle reported a fallen tree blocking both lanes. 4:56 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies responded to a single-vehicle accident on SR4 near Chevron. Vehicle off the roadway, no injuries reported. 9:51 p.m. A Skamokawa resident called to report multiple ATVs went around their gate at the bottom of the driveway and wanted it documented so there was a record of the activity.

June 29 1:11 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported an unknown vehicle was seemingly broken down on the logging road, and the individuals inside the vehicle were behaving strangely. 7:22 p.m. A Skamokawa resident had a power outage on E Valley Road and reported that several wires were ripped out and rolled up together and left there. The water was also not working, and the PUD reported it was due to damage caused by the logging company.
