BRIDGE CLUB MEETS

Present at the Saturday night bridge club help at the Art Wright home were Mr. and Mrs. W.K. Moore of Yakima, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Bacon of Lexington, Dr. and Mrs. Ralph Gladding of Kelso, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Halstenrud of Longview and Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Wanamaker of Silver Lake.

MOTHER RETURNS

MRS. H.H. Faubion, mother of Mrs. Art Wright, has returned after spending a week in Lacey visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Faubion, her son and daughter-in-law.

TO COUNTY FAIR

Lori, Kenny and Ronnie Williams and Gary Quigly attended the Tillamook County fair in Tillamook, Ore., last Thursday.

TO RACES

Mr. and Mrs. Gene Williams and Mr. and Mrs. Duke Quigly took a weekend trip to Oregon and attended the Sand Lake dune buggy races on Sunday.

SATURDAY VISITORS

The Harold Badgers of Grays River Spent Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Shuley.

WEEKEND TRIP

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mooers made an interesting trip with the Washington Resource Council. The group of over 100 made a boat excursion up the Columbia River from Vancouver and ended it at The Dalles, Ore. On their return trip they came by bus over the old Oregon highway.

SISTER VISITS

Mrs. Edwin Carlson and a friend, Mrs. Glen Webster, both of Portland were down visiting with Mrs. Carlson’s sister, Mrs. Jack Martin and they attended the play “Cathlamet USA” on Thursday night.

VISITING

Mr. and Mrs. J.J. Hosley and two girls, Sharon and Eileen, of Los Angels, are visiting this week at the home of Mrs. Vera Hosley.

WEEKEND VISITORS

Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Johnson of Arlington were down visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Jacobson over the weekend.

DINNER GUESTS

Pastor and Mrs. Ph. Mueller of Puget Island and Ada Larson of Longview had dinner with the Lawrence Ronnings last Friday evening and later attended that night’s performance of the play “Cathlamet USA.”

BIRTHDAY LUNCHEON

On August 6 a birthday luncheon and party was held in honor of Marge Tomblingson by Norman Longtain. Attending also were Leatha Martin of Portland, May Spokley of Vancouver, Linda, Suzie and Crystal Clark, Kathy and Jimmy Tomblingson and Elaine, Shelly and Kimmy Cothren.

Another party was held on Thursday for Marge. Gathering to wish her well were Frances Trimble, Mae Takehara, Leota Souvenir and Elaine Cothren and girls. She also received many cards, gifts and calls from out-of-town friends and relatives.

VISITS MOTHER

Mr. and Mrs. Lauren Venable from Woodinville, spent the weekend with Mrs. Charles Larsen, Lauren’s mother.

FROM ARIZONA

Joe and Jackie Barnes and children from Phoenix, Arizona, visited the area as guests of Smitty and Jean Schmitt. They were very impressed with Cathlamet and the beautiful surrounding scenery. Barnes is a district manager of Angel Hardware Stores of the Phoenix area.
