Judith Lynn Nutter Madden, age 79, of Longview, Washington passed away peacefully in Elk Grove, California on August 2, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Born on October 5, 1945, in Astoria, Oregon, Judy was the beloved daughter of Bonnie B. Nutter and G. Wallace Nutter. Judy spent the majority of her youth in Seaside, Oregon, later living in Callam Bay and graduating from Wahkiakum High School in Cathlamet, Washington. She pursued higher education at Lower Columbia College, and went on to work in their registrar office, a role in which she supported countless students and colleagues with care and dedication.
On July 25, 1966, Judy married the love of her life, Patrick E. Madden, and together they raised four children: Erik W. Madden of Elk Grove, CA; Peter J. Madden of Kelso, Wa; Kathleen A. Madden of Arizona; and Caesey P. Madden of Longview, Wa. Pat preceded her in death in 2011.
Judy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She found great joy in reading, baking homemade bread, and staying up to date with technology. She was deeply involved in her children’s lives, including years of support in Little League baseball, and cherished time spent with her family above all else.
Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life. Judy was a longtime member and active attender of Faith Lutheran Brethren Church in Kelso, Washington, where she built strong, meaningful relationships within her church community.
She is survived by her children; daughter-in-law, Nancy Madden (Erik) and her grandchildren Gillian Madden, Ezra Madden, and Ella Madden. She was preceded in death by her grandson Burke Madden.
Judy is also survived by her siblings Lee Nutter (Darlene), twin sister Cheryl Nelson (David), and Marilee Irving (Bill), and was preceded in death by her sister Jann Barry and brother-in-law Jacque. She is also remembered with love by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Judy deeply loved her family and made countless sacrifices to support and care for them. If you ever had a conversation or exchanged emails with her, you would have likely heard her phrase that she truly meant: “Go with God.”
A memorial service will be held in her honor on Thursday, August 15, 2025, at Faith Lutheran Brethren Church in Kelso, Washington. All who knew and loved Judy are warmly invited to attend and celebrate her life.
