David Wayne Bodin

David Wayne Bodin of Cathlamet, Washington lost his four year battle with Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson's on Friday, August 29, 2025, surrounded by his wife of 19 years, Leigh Goodison, his parents, Isabel and Gary Hendricks, and his brother, Bret Bodin.

David was born in Hollywood, California to Isabel and Nick Jepson on June 22, 1958. David enlisted in the US Marine Corp at the age of 17 in early 1975, the youngest Marine at the time, and in his family a third generation Marine. He was deployed to south east Asia and served his country honorably.

David was always the first to volunteer during a crisis. In 2005, during Hurricane Katrina, he gathered a group of fellow Marines, rented an RV, and drove down to Mississippi where they distributed food, water, medical supplies and assistance to flood victims. He always made himself available to work on trailers and other farm vehicles of people who came to him for help, never charging for his time or knowledge.

Some of David's fondest memories were of the time spent as a child on the Fort Harney Ranch in eastern Oregon. There he learned first-hand about ranching life, horses, and maintaining farm equipment and vehicles, skills he would later use to form Horse Trailer Restoration with Leigh. Utilizing his background in repairing horse trailers, David became known as the Horse Trailer Guru, and was a much sought after speaker at horse expos and events across the country, including Hawaii. When his health prevented them from traveling, David and Leigh began creating educational videos for YouTube to continue to educate people on horse trailer safety, repair, and maintenance. All of these videos are still available on YouTube.

After moving to Cathlamet, David became interested in Ham radio operation. Unfortunately, his health began to decline in early 2022 and he was never able to continue his new hobby and sadly lost contact with several new friends he'd made.

David adored his sons, and especially his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his wife Leigh; mother Isabel and stepfather Gary Hendricks; brother Bret; sons Cole; Alex, his wife Mishy and son Finn; Sidney, his wife Paige, and son Sam; stepson Jim Grieve and wife Nicole, and their children, Charlie and Sophie; and Meghan Luker and husband Lee, and their daughter Freya.
