Cathlamet Public Library News

HELLO. With your wonderful support, we continue to make the library even better – thank you.

GOT DELIVERY? Beginning Thursday, Oct. 2, we will start the first ever Westend-Cathlamet Library Delivery/Pick-up service every Thursday from 2-3 p.m. at the Raistakka Fire Station 2 in Rosburg. For easy details, please see the library website. A big thank you goes out to Westenders for showing your support.

FIRST TALK. Our first Autumn Author Talk is scheduled for Saturday, Oct 11 at 6 p.m. with author Dayle Olson as our guest. Dayle is a poet and short-fiction writer living here in Cathlamet. Her pocket zines feature poetry and drawings inspired by life on the Lower Columbia. Her work appears in The Salal Review, RAIN Magazine, Litmora Magazine, Thin Veil Press, And Other Poems, Timber Ghost Press, and North Coast Squid. She is a frequent book-review contributor to the Columbia River Reader. Author talks are hosted by Cathlamet Public Library at 6 p.m. at the Pioneer Community Center. Come on out, support our local authors, and enjoy the evening.

GET LEGAL. On Wednesday, Oct. 8 from 9 to 11 a.m. inside the Cathlamet Community room (below the library), there will be a legal aid team available to provide free assistance for Wahkiakum residents. This legal support service is sponsored by the Cowlitz Wahkiakum Legal Aid team.

FREE NOTARY. Starting Thursday, Sept. 18, free notary service will be available for all Cathlamet library card holders. Simply schedule your free service with the library staff to use it. Notary service will be available Thursdays and Saturdays at 2:30, 3:30, and 4:30 p.m.

STUDENTS LIBRARYING. It’s been wonderfully busy and active the past three weeks of September, as Students have been coming down to the library. English Teacher Audrey Petterson has been bringing her five classes to the library each Wednesday. Soon, students from other classes will be arriving to see and learn what our public library has to offer. A big thank you, in advance, to all the teachers who wish to utilize the library this school year. We’re here for you.

LIVING ROOM. Recently, on Wednesday mornings, a few homeschooler moms have been gathering with their children in the library during open hours. This was one of the library’s intentions with providing morning hours on Wednesdays; providing our public library as a community living room for parents and children to gather.

GAMING GROUPS. We have two popular gaming groups: Teen Dungeons & Dragons (grades 6 through 12) meets in the Community Room below the library. The Siblings & Family Gaming group meets in the Pioneer Community Center behind the library. Both groups meet on the first through fourth Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. No meetings are held on any fifth Wednesday, holiday, or local school closure. If interested, please stop by the library or on a game night to find out more. Thank you to our volunteers, Jen and Walker.

15 PERCENT DISCOUNTS. Show your Cathlamet Library card at the following businesses: Patty Cakes, The Spar, The Video Store, Little Woo’s, JJ’s Pizza & Mohr, Naselle Coffee, and Puget Island Gardens. See each business for details.

LIBRARY CARDS. Cathlamet library cards are free for all Wahkiakum residents. The Cathlamet Public Library is located at 115 Columbia St. and is open Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m.
