Library News

OPENING DAY. Today is the opening day of the first ever Westend-Cathlamet Library Delivery/Pickup service. If you live out on the Westend of Wahkiakum county this is a convenient way for you to get your books, DVD’s, and cultural passes from your library. Every Thursday, we deliver to the Rosburg/Raistakka Fire Station from 2 to 3 p.m. To order, all you do is go to the library website, log-in, place your item on hold, and arrive Thursday for pick-up. Please note that all orders must be in by 8 a.m. on Wednesday for the Thursday delivery. We are committed to you and will be there every Thursday. Reminder, every library patron who orders a book, DVD, or cultural pass and shows up Thursday will receive a freshly baked chocolate-chip cookie from The Cottage restaurant in Cathlamet.

BARTER NIGHT. On Thursday, Oct. 9 at 5 p.m., we’ll be at the Grays River Grange for their fall Barter Night. Need a library card? We’ll provide you with one. We look forward to seeing you.

AUTHOR TALK. Our Autumn Author Talk is Saturday, Oct. 11 at 6 p.m. Author Dayle Olson will be our guest. She’s a poet and short fiction writer living here in Cathlamet. Her pocket zines feature poetry and drawings inspired by life on the Lower Columbia. Author talks are hosted by the library and take place at 6 p.m. in the Pioneer Community Center. Come on out, support our local authors.

BANNED BOOKS. Banned Books Week is Oct. 5-11. During October, in honor of banned books week, library patrons can check out a previously banned book wrapped in brown paper. These books will be displayed in their respective sections within the library. Banned Books Week was first launched in 1982 and is an annual reminder that the right to read belongs to all of us.
