Following public comment at the Nov. 4 Wahkiakum County Commissioners’ weekly meeting, Public Works Director Chuck Beyer brought before the commissioners a request for an easement on county-owned parcel PID #1490 on Clover Street. As the item was simply a request, no motion was made, but the commissioners expressed their approval for the easement. The appreciative owner of the parcel said she will talk with her attorneys and bring it back before the commissioners at a later date. Julie Johnston from Health & Human Services then requested the publishing of the notice of public hearing on the 2025-2030 Local Housing Plan, which will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 16 at 10 a.m. The commissioners unanimously approved the motion. Johnston then presented the commissioners with a proposal to approve contract 2026-TSB-17 with Community in Motion “for non-emergency medical transportation services.” The contract would begin Jan. 1, 2026, and would run until Dec. 31, 2027. The Wahkiakum County Sheriff’s Office Department of Emergency Management Coordinator Austin Smith presented before the commissioners an amendment to the State Homeland Security Program grant. According to Smith, additional funding has become available, and the grant increased by $8,326. The commissioners approved the amendment, which brings the total for the grant funding to $63,326.
Due to the fact that Tuesday, Nov. 11, is Veterans Day, the commissioners announced next week’s meeting will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 9:30 a.m.
