Wahkiakum PUD –
Cathlamet Water System Fluoridation
Wahkiakum Public Utility District (PUD) is seeking public input regarding whether to continue or discontinue the addition of fluoride to the Cathlamet Water System. The Cathlamet Water System serves Cathlamet and Puget Island.
Fluoride has been added to the Cathlamet water supply for dental health purposes. The PUD Commission is reviewing this practice and would like to hear from customers, residents, and other stakeholders before making any decision.
Wahkiakum PUD will be seeking input and public comments through a variety of means:
February 19, 2026: Wahkiakum PUD will distribute a survey to our Cathlamet and Puget Island water customers via a bill stuffer by mail and notify our e-Billing customers by email. A link to the survey will also be found on our website at http://www.wahkiakumpud.org.
March 17 and April 7, 2026 beginning at 8:30AM: Comments may be provided in person during public hearings at the Wahkiakum PUD Commission board meetings. Meetings will be held at Wahkiakum PUD, 45 River Street in Cathlamet.
Ongoing: Written comments may be submitted by mail to Wahkiakum PUD, PO Box 248, Cathlamet WA 98612 or by email at cs@wahkiakumpud.org.
Members of the public are invited to submit comments expressing their views, concerns, or support regarding fluoridation of the Cathlamet Water System. All feedback received will be considered by the Commission as part of its evaluation process. Wahkiakum PUD appreciates public participation and encourages community members to share their perspectives on this matter.
Comment Deadline:
All comments and surveys should be received by April 30, 2026.
