HELLO. Welcome library members, readers, and all to our monthly update.
READ ACROSS AMERICA. In recognition of Dr. Seuss, Cathlamet Library will be celebrating Read Across America for all of March, with a mystery guest reader, as we recognize the importance of promoting reading for all children.
ST. JAMES EVENT. On Thursday, March 12, from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m., we will be at the St. James Family Center Parent Group Literacy Night event to offer library cards and provide free books for children. Stop by and say hello. We are here for you.
BIRTHDAY PARTY. The library was founded in 1931 by the Cathlamet Woman’s Club, then established in 1933 by the Town of Cathlamet as the Cathlamet Public Library. The library is celebrating its 93rd birthday on Saturday, March 14 from 2 – 5 p.m. Come and celebrate with us.
BINGO. On Saturday, March 14, from 6 - 8 p.m., the library will be at Norse Hall (444 WA-409) to provide you a library card and answer questions about your library. See you at Bingo night.
NEW DISCOUNT. Cathlamet Building Materials (CBM) will soon be offering a 15 percent discount with your library card. Some limitations will apply, details to follow. Thank you, CBM!
LIBRARY BOOK CORNER. We are establishing “Library Book Corner” in our community. You can donate any amount and pick your book. This is currently taking place at Pattycakes, and will soon be at Puget Island Gardens and The Cottage Bread and Breakfast. Thank you all!
HOUSE PLANTS. We have house-plant starts in the library for you to choose from and take home. We currently have rooted willow cuttings to support the mourning cloak butterfly.
PODCASTS. We have been interviewed on “The Human Beat” by Roger Rocka, and “An Adventure in History” by Mac Burns and Alana Kujala. Visit KMUN’s radio website for a listen.
STORY TIME. Wednesdays from 10:30 - 11 a.m. we have our weekly Story Time. Visit, relax, and enjoy. Drop in, as all are welcome.
LIBRARY AFTER DARK. Every Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. the library is open for an informal social gathering. Various activities are available, along with a warm welcoming atmosphere.
DUNGEONS & DRAGONS. Takes place the first through fourth Wednesdays each month from 6 to 8 p.m. The Siblings & Family group and the group grades 6–12 meet in the Pioneer Center.
WESTEND DELIVERY. Every Thursday from 2 to 3 p.m., we provide a Westend Delivery service at the Rosburg Fire Station. Patrons who pick-up a book, DVD, or pass receive two Cottage Bread and Breakfast chocolate chip cookies. See website for details.
CULTURAL PASSES. The following five passes are available courtesy of the library: Clatsop County Historical Society, Discover, Oregon State Park (day-parking), Rice Museum of Rocks and Minerals, and Columbia River Maritime Museum. Reserve ahead of time. Limit one per family.
CARD DISCOUNTS. Enjoy 15 percent off with your library card at Patty Cakes, The Spar, The Video Store, JJ’s Pizza & Mohr, Naselle Coffee Shop, Puget Island Gardens, Little Island Creamery, and Cathlamet Building Materials. STILL WAITING? We have the Top 10 Libby physical books – because waiting on an ebook can be a bit of a pain. Look for the bookshelf markes ‘Still Waiting?’ and check it out.
WORK SPECIALIST. Wednesdays from 1 to 3 p.m., Diana Zimmerman from Employ Wahkiakum assists job seekers with job searches, resumes, cover letters, and more.
FREE COOKIES. The library offers free cookies both Fridays and Saturdays.
NOTARY SERVICE. Free notary service is available Thursday and Saturday at 2:30, 3:30, and 4:30 p.m. Please schedule ahead.
LIBRARY CARDS. Cathlamet library cards are free for all Wahkiakum residents.
