    OLYMPIA—Lawmakers are looking to modify the Public Records Act in an effort to help local agencies that claim they’re burdened by overly broad and massive public-records requests. House Bill 2576 would give local agencies the power to limit the time they spend each month responding to public-records requests, and would allow local agencies to charge a fee for providing public records that are requested for commercial purposes.     Wahkiakum County PUD commissioners heard reports and took time to check out the new bucket truck at their meeting Tuesday morning. "Just going to let you look at your quarter of a million dollar truck," General Manager David Tramblie said before everyone stepped outside.     Wow! We are starting a new month and that means we are one month closer to the fair. Some events that the fair will sponsor in February are The Flea Market and the Valentine's Dinner. The Flea Market is on February 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. We have several new vendors this month.     The Pacific County Emergency Management Agency will host a series of Community Forums regarding Tsunami Inundation for Pacific County. These forums will serve as ramp-up events for the Cascadia Rising Functional Exercise, a national level exercise designed to test response to a Cascadia Subduction Zone earthquake and subsequent tsunami.     The Wahkiakum Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Crab & Oyster Feed at the Norse Hall on February 20. This will be the 31st year for this event.     Razor clam diggers can look forward to more than a month of razor clam digging opportunities at Long Beach on the Washington coast. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) approved the dig, which runs from Feb. 4 through March 10, at Long Beach after marine toxin tests showed the clams are safe to eat.     Ronald James Bigelow, 80, of Cathlamet, died January 5, 2016 at the Hospice Care Center. He was born in Long Beach, Calif., to Vernon and Katherine (Welton) Bigelow. He served in the Air Force for 22 years, earning the rank of Master Sergeant. He was a test flight mechanic for Boeing in Seattle until retiring in 1992. He moved to Cathlamet 23 years ago from Pacific, Wash. On December 24, 1975, he married Joyce A. Wilson in Lancaster, Calif. She survives him at home. He also leaves behind a...

    Anticipating a return of 299,200 adult spring chinook salmon, fishery managers from Washington and Oregon set this year’s initial fishing season to run through April 9 on the lower Columbia River.
