    Razor clam diggers can return to Long Beach for a three-day opening beginning Sept. 27. State shellfish managers with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) approved the dig on morning low tides after marine toxin tests showed the clams are safe to eat.     Fibre Federal Credit Union has partnered with selected colleges and hospitals within its field of membership for a multi-year grant program. From 2018 to 2020, Fibre Federal will distribute $87,000 in grants to four college foundations and eight hospital foundations. One of the grant recipients is the Lower Columbia College Foundation.     The Wahkiakum Mules volleyball team split matches this week with a win on the road and a loss at home. Last Thursday, the Lady Mules traveled to Morton/White Pass for a non-league match.     Wahkiakum High School cross country runners traveled to Vancouver last Wednesday to compete against teams from eight other schools in a 5,000 meter 1A Trico League Meet. Titan Niemela led Mule runners in the boys’ race with a time of 22:18 and 42nd place. Kaiden Ray finished with a time of 23:26, taking 53rd place, and Alex Tantum took 68th place with a time of 24:36.     The Wahkiakum Mule football team's rough pre-league season continued Friday with a 58-6 loss to the Onalaska Loggers last Friday.     The Wahkiakum Youth Mini-Mules Football team plays its only home game this season on Saturday, 3 p.m. at Wahkiakum High School. Composed of athletes in the 3rd through 6th grades, the team is entering its third game of the season with a 2-0 record.
