    The community is invited to come out and show some support for the local Wahkiakum Youth Football team at their only home game this Saturday, October 4 at 6:30 p.m. They will be playing on the high school field against a Kelso Youth Football team.   • Final lure coursing event to be held for season

    The final lure coursing field tests and trials for the 2014 season will be held this weekend at Misty Rivers Plantation, 117 Cross Dike Road, on Puget Island. This event is for AKC registered sighthounds only, and is sponsored by the Willamette Valley Basenji Club. Hounds compete in groups of three with their own breed, chasing an artificial bunny around a 1500 yard course. At the end of each day the best in each breed compete for the Best in Field Award.     The Area Agency on Aging and Disabilities of Southwest Washington and its Advisory Council hosted candidates Dean Takko and Hugh Fleet on September 18 at Gaiser Hall on the campus of Clark College in Vancouver.     The Pe Ell/Willapa Valley Titans pounded the Wahkiakum Mules for a 41-6 Central League football game Friday in Cathlamet. The Titans wasted little time getting on the scoreboard. Jason Fluke scored on a 5-yard run at 10:41 of the first quarter and Robert Espina kicked the conversion for a 7-0 lead.     The Wahkiakum Mule and Thomas Middle School Warrior cross country season has been underway since September 9. They’ve got five meets under their belts so far.
