Wahkiakum School District Board of Directors heard about improvements made by custodial and maintenance staff at the district, an improved phone system thanks to Wahkiakum West, and the plan for opening the school for the academic year, which begins next week. Superintendent Brent Freeman said there was another HVAC failure at the district, which had to be replaced immediately as it was used to keep computer equipment cool. “I didn’t have a choice or an option but to replace it,” Freeman said. ...

One week from today, August 25, will be September 1 and the first day of school for students at Naselle/GRV school. This year, summer feels more like spring or fall to me, but after spending two weeks inside experiencing covid for myself, and the nasty medicine to fight it, I will take any season. I am feeling much better this morning while sitting out in the yard with Ben dog with flowers and birds telling God how grateful I am. Last week turned out to be an exciting week for Eagle staff. You should know that we plan ahead to make sure we cover local events, such as the Finnish American Folk Festival that occurred July 29-31 in Naselle. Kenneth (Kenny) William Setala passed away May 4th, 2022 with his family by his side. Kenny was born on March 25, 1938, in Astoria, Oregon to John and Pauline Setala. Kenny's childhood years were spent on the family farm in Rosburg, WA on Eden Valley Road where he began his lifelong love of animals. Dear Readers: It's Monday and it is getting hot. So, here's a flower garden report. Recently I realized I have a ferret around my property. The first time it was on my deck.
