    The Wahkiakum Mule varsity ran just 30 plays in rolling up a 41-0 Central League win over the visiting Winlock Cardinals last Friday. The varsity took advantage of big plays and Cardinal mistakes to lead 34-0 at halftime.     Seven high school students and two middle school students have turned out for Wahkiakum cross country this year. Marie Riley, who took up running when she volunteered to help with the track team, is in her third year as head coach.   • Willow Grove Pirate Festival starts Kickstarter campaign

    Organizers of the Willow Grove Pirate Festival have started a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the 2014 festival. David Tedder, Rikkisa Harrison, Heath Wemmer and Christen Ellis formed the nonprofit Willow Grove Pirates Guild, PC for doing this and other Renaissance and pirate themed events.     The Wahkiakum Mule football team will hit the road and head to Mossyrock this Friday to open the 2013 football season. Mule head Coach Eric Hansen said this week that 27 players are turning out for the team this year. "I like them," Hansen said Monday.
