    The Wahkiakum Mule golf team recaptured the District Title Trophy last Thursday, beating runner-up Willapa Valley by 52 strokes with a four man 36 hole total of 679 to 731. The Mules qualified six players of the eight slot total allocated to District 4 to state. Brysen Coleman was edged out for medalist by Willapa Valley's Connor McCallister 166-167.   • Last razor clam dig of the season set for May 24-26 at Twin Harbors

    Clam diggers will get one more chance to dig razor clams this season during a three-day opening at Twin Harbors, running Friday through Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. The morning dig scheduled May 24-26 got the green light from the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) after marine toxin tests showed the clams at Twin Harbors are safe to eat.     The John C. Thomas Middle School eighth grade girls track team went undefeated in league meets and won the district championship this year. "They are a special group of girls," said Coach Paul Johns. "They all participated in events that emphasized their strengths. We usually had a girl placing in every event."     The Wahkiaum Mules’ baseball season virtually came to an end this past week as the Mules dropped a pair of road games at Morton-White Pass and were swept at home by Toutle Lake.     The Wahkiakum Mule golf team had trouble focusing on their golf game during the bright sunshine and turned in a lackluster team score of 181 while moving their season record to 16-0 against opponents on Monday at Skyline Golf Course.     The Wahkiakum Mule baseball team struggled to get the bats going last Wednesday night against Napavine, falling 7-0 in the opener before dropping the nightcap 13-2. The Mules tallied just four hits in the opener, two from Lars Blix and one apiece from Dallas Peacock and Gunnar Blix.
