Adventure awaits this summer for young people to explore the area’s trails, water and animals at camps through Lewis and Clark National Historical Park. The two weeklong camps feature overnight opportunities. Nature Adventure Camp, held July 8-12, offers a week’s worth of adventures at the park and nearby, as well as an overnight in Fort Clatsop. Greetings from the fair office, hope everyone is having a great start to spring. Soon the fairgrounds will be very busy as we have several events happening at the fair grounds. The Silver Buckle Series starts in May, the Car Show will happen in June, The Challenge of Champions will be here in July and of course the fair is in August. With a record-setting winter finally in the history books, the arrival of spring means drivers in Washington have until Sunday to remove studded tires. The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) reminds drivers that state law requires all studded tires to be removed by the end of the day March 31. Starting at midnight on April 1, drivers with studded tires face a $136 fine. Studded tires also damage pavement, so removing them promptly after winter has passed helps preserve state roadways. GORGEOUS--With blue skies and sunshine and temperatures in the 60s, it meant those with outdoor chores were in seventh heaven. My New Friends the Corvid Family Most people have met corvids yet did not know that was their name. The family of corvids I am referring to is birds of the Corvidae of which there are 120 species worldwide. Sugar & Spice 4-H members will host a soup fundraiser and bake sale on March 30 in the Grays River Valley Center located at Johnson Park, Rosburg, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Featured soups will be Split Pea, Chicken Noodle and Taco accompanied by a flatbread.
