FIRST COLUMN--Here we are already, writing the first column of a new year! Funny, but it seems like yesterday that I said the same thing, but nope, the year just really flew by and it's already 2019; wow! I'll try to catch up with all those happenings next week. FOGGY--I know one thing, it's...
While traveling over the KM Mountain one day in a fog, I suddenly came into a clear area where I could see the valley below covered in fog as the sun filtered through as if the forest below was covered with various colors of cotton candy. The whiteness of some of the fog reminded me of soap suds foaming over the landscape. Because of the soapy look of the fog, for whatever reason, I thought of my now deceased mother. As a child I remember watching her fill a wash tub with soapy water and get on her hands and knees to scrub the clothes on a...

WET AND WINDY--As this week starts, it's a damp one here in West Valley and for most of SW Washington and depending on where you are, you got a little extra rain and some extremely breezy conditions as well. It seems that we're always dealing with weather challenges this time of year, and with a big storm coming in at the beginning of this week, it makes things a little more treacherous for us. Hopefully nothing too serious will happen around here, other than "normal" flooding and a bit of wind, but it helps to be prepared so hopefully...

WARMED UP--The rain may not seem real warm but considering we had temperatures down to 22 degrees last week, these 40 degree temps are definitely warmer! Of course, these gray days make it seem darker even earlier and also make it seem later to boot, unlike those clear, blue skies we were having, which certainly perked up one's spirits, even if they did bring the freezing weather with them! With lots of snow falling in the mountains and horrible snow storms crippling parts of the eastern side of the US and mudslides in part of California, I...
Although I will endeavor to bring to you the public all the events and happenings in the area, however, please note that much of what is eventful is hidden in plain sight.
