The Washington Senate on March 21 passed a capital budget providing $40 million for a new vocational training center at Lower Columbia College in Longview, $8.3 million for improvements to Cape Disappointment State Park, and other public works projects across southwest Washington. Poetry and Pie at the Clatskanie Library will launch the 2023 Raymond Carver Writing Festival (RCWF) Poetry Contest on Tuesday, April 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. Pie was known to be Carver’s favorite dessert. Fibre Federal Credit Union serves 11 counties in Washington and Oregon with financial services and community support projects. In 2022, the credit union continued its mission to strengthen and improve the communities it serves through partnerships, sponsorships, and donations. Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) shellfish managers have tentatively scheduled additional razor clam digging dates at Mocrocks and Copalis beaches in March. "After reopening harvest on Copalis and Mocrocks since late January, we are delighted to announce tentative digs at both beaches for the remainder of March," said Bryce Blumenthal, WDFW coastal shellfish biologist.
