  • Raven's Run disc golf tournament

    Jun 29, 2017

The heat didn't keep 72 people from all over the northwest from competing at the Raven's Run disc golf tournament at the Inn at Lucky Mud in Skamokawa last weekend. Two rounds were played, one in the morning, and another in the afternoon. Above, after the buzzer sounded, competitors tee'd off in the second round. • Museum now open on Fridays and Saturdays

    Kay Chamberlain|Jun 22, 2017

NOT QUITE SO GOOD--The really warm, super nice, really good weekend that was supposed to have taken place over Father's Day weekend, didn't quite turn out the way they first predicted it would, at least not here. Go figure! However, after some rain on Saturday, and after some more clouds and drizzle on Sunday morning, we did have the sun come out in the afternoon and things got warm and steamy/muggy, which is what we get after the sun hits all the wetness around here. Supposedly this week is going to be dry and down right hot by the end of the...

  • Out of the frying pan into the nice, cool valley

    Trudy Fredrickson|Jun 22, 2017

Made a quick trip to California over the weekend to get my granddaughters home for Father’s Day. We left here at 4 a.m. on Friday morning and it was raining, arriving in Stockton at about 4:30 p.m. to excruciating heat. More heat the next day, and I left at 4 a.m. on Sunday morning to escape the 110 degrees slated for that day. Made it home in less than 11 hours to our beautiful weather. News from Naselle: Looking for a fun family event? The annual Friends of the Naselle Library community picnic will be held this year on Tuesday at the l...

As we're only a week away from Summer, let's hope we have a bit of a dry stretch so we can put away those umbrellas! If we are to believe the forecast, it's supposed to be nice for this Father's Day weekend, so let's hope that's true. SPECIAL DAYS--Those celebrating birthdays from June 15-21 are Robert Montgomery, Jason Ledtke, Megan...

  • Sounds of family create a happy place

    Trudy Fredrickson|Jun 15, 2017

A week ago my house became filled with laughter and fun after the arrival of three of my teen granddaughters. We have been to the beach, to the Astoria Column, shopping, hiking, hot-tubbing and just plain being lazy. I needed this, and to top it off, now my niece and her daughter have arrived. This is heaven with the young giggles and music in the car and in the house. Such fun. I didn’t plan too well for the two-week visit with the granddaughters as it cut into the Father’s Day weekend. So I will make a quick trip to California on Friday to...
