SAME THING--I think saying "it's raining...again...still" is getting pretty monotonous, as we seem to start a lot of our weeks that way and end them like that as well--all wet! However, they say by the time you read this we'll have had some sunshine and warmth and it couldn't come any too soon to suit most of us. For the folks who have been to Hawaii lately, I can't tell you how jealous I am to see all those great sunny, blue sky pictures and hear about all those wonderful days on the beach. It's got to be my turn pretty soon! SPECIAL...
Is it ever going to really be spring, or is it already over? Then where is summer? I haven’t even seen a trillium on our property yet. I do have a couple of hummingbirds back, finally. Looks like another rainy week. I guess we really shouldn’t complain too bitterly though, things could be worse, as many in other parts of the world can attest to. News from Naselle: Sports for the coming week include: Thursday- high school track meet at home at 3 p.m.; fast pitch and baseball vs. Quinalt in Naselle at 3 p.m.; Monday, fast pitch and baseball at...
STILL WET--When Spring officially started last Sunday, we had some sunshine grace our area for part of the day, but Spring showers showed up again and as our work week begins, it's rained all day long out here in West Valley. In spite of the warmer temperatures, it feels just as cold to me due to the wind and dampness. I'm hearing a lot of rumblings from folks saying they are headed to warmer parts of the country. Did someone say it was 80 degrees in Hawaii first thing in the morning? Ah, that sounds quite inviting! SPECIAL DAYS--Those...
It’s definitely spring. The birds singing and chirping in the morning is enough to wake anyone up. I don’t remember them starting out so early in the morning though. Daffodils are blooming everywhere even where there haven’t been any before. Must be from flood waters. I’ve even seen quite a few eagles sitting in the trees along the Grays. Looking for an easy fish meal, maybe? News from Naselle: Remember when all the rhodies in front of the school were just huge and beginning to look kind of ratty? Then they were all cut back due to their h...

SPRING?--I'm not sure folks were thinking it was too Spring-like as the rains were coming down sideways and winds were blowing like crazy, but according to the calendar, Spring officially begins this Sunday, so put on those bright and happy dresses and let's hope the sun shows up to make it a truly Spring-like day. Flowers are blooming so it's beginning to look like Spring, although when it froze awhile back, they looked a bit sad with their heads bowed to the ground, but by golly, the snowdrops, primroses and daffodils are obviously more...

NOT BAD--I was expecting a wet weekend, but thankfully, we got a pretty nice couple of days, which is always a nice surprise. With one forecaster saying dry one day and wet the next and others saying showers off and on both days, it was nice to see that they were both wrong! In the last part of the week, they had even said no sun on one day, as the sun was streaming through my window, so hey, I was enjoying every bit of their incorrect forecast! Sunday night saw temperatures dive below freezing, which I hadn't heard was going to happen, but...

COLD, WHITE, WET AND WINDY--Well, we found out this past week that winter is definitely still here and depending on where you were and what day it was in this past week, you were either freezing cold, or dealing with many inches of snow or you were looking at the oh so common rain drops coming down out of the sky, accompanied by a strong nippy wind, a mixed bag of weather for sure. While Kelso was getting blasted by snow, I was quite happy that we didn't get hit with their seven to eight inches of the white stuff. While there were certain...
