Spring? What’s going on here? Studded tires are supposed to come off on April 1 so we wake up to snow the next few days. Something’s wrong with this picture. This wasn’t the only place with bad weather for the Easter weekend, as we headed south to spend time with our family in California. It started snowing just out of Ashland, Ore. and got pretty scary in the Siskiyous. We made it through the snow, slush, wind and downright nasty stuff, just ahead of a 20-car pileup near Weed, Calif. We had a wonderful time with the family and headed home on M...

SPRING HAS SPRUNG--Our first day of Spring, March 20, sprang into action with some nice sunshine and temperatures in the high 60s in West Valley, so it was a pretty doggone nice day. We had a couple beautiful days before then, albeit with freezing temperatures in the wee hours of the morning, which dove down to 26 degrees here one night--brr! However, it seems Spring opted to spring a leak as the light rain began to fall Saturday evening and by Sunday, it was down right pouring at times; ah, truly Spring weather! I hope you didn't put off...

Is it my imagination, or are there lots more crows flying around this year? They seem to take great pleasure in bothering our dogs while they nap in the sunshine. SPECIAL DAYS--Those celebrating birthdays from March 18-24 are Connie Bassi, Sig Hjaltalin, Sharyl...
GREAT START--As this work week begins, it's absolutely gorgeous after a frozen morning in West Valley. But wait! It was very nice, right up until the wind began to blow and blow hard, and the black clouds rolled in and then it was hailing and snowing and raining and well, it just got nasty! It looks like we could have some cold temperatures and more chances of some freaky weather this week, so I guess winter isn't over just yet. SPECIAL DAYS--Those celebrating birthdays from March 11-17 are Paul Ehrensberger, Kelly Zink, Larry Bonds, Gretchen M...

It’s certainly hard to figure out what Mother Nature has been trying to tell us for the last week or so. One day we have shirtsleeve weather and the next is snow flurries, lightning, thunder, hail, wind and long underwear. It looks like a not so nice forecast for the next few days. DECENT BEGINNING--As this week begins, the weather was pretty decent, some dry spells and sunshine; a nice relief from some nasty, wet days last week, except for Thursday morning, which was gorgeous. By that evening, the rains came and so did the wind. Wow, it sounded like a freight train coming down the valley about 11:05 p.m., but luckily each burst of wind didn't last long and by midnight, it was just breezy. Most people I talked to missed the whole thing as they were all sound asleep, but this night owl was one of those who thought we were...
