Mules top Mounties; face 4-0 Adna today

Two games were postponed this week due to weather, but on Monday the Wahkiakum Mules baseball team played despite the rain. They added another win to their record, which now stands at 4-0 in league, 4-1 overall.

On Monday, the Mules beat the Rainier Mountaineers 15-5 on the road.

The Mules didn't score until the third inning where they picked up one run. They scored 14 more in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings.

Luke Brown went 2-4 at bat with a double and two RBIs. Ashden Niemeyer went 3-5 with a double and four RBIs. Beau Carlson went 2-2 and brought in two runs with a sacrifice play.

"The weather was miserable," Coach Marc Niemeyer said, "but the boys came to play."

Starting pitcher James Anderson pitched four innings. He faced 16 batters, struck out six, walked two, allowed three hits and one run. Zach Brown took over in the fifth inning. He faced 14 batters, struck out six, walked two, allowed two hits and four runs.

On Wednesday, the Mules were scheduled to play Onalaska at home. The score was not available by press time. They have another home game today (Thursday) against Adna, weather permitting.
