Chalk art draws a crowd

Evie Davidson created a lovely floral design on her square at the 12th Annual Chalk Art Contest on Friday.

This year's 12th annual Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest boasted the biggest turnout yet on Friday, with 64 entrants ranging from 2 years old to adults.

Winners were selected in three age categories: 8 and under, 9-15, and 16 and up.

Kelly McGranagham took first place in the 8 and under group, with Tristan Bartkowski taking second and Devlynn Ferguson taking third.

In the second category, 9-15, Renee, who's last name was unknown, took first place, Mayleonna Casey took second and Helen Lewis placed third.

Makaila Bigelow took first place in the 16 and up category. Gangeline Davidson took second, and Kendall Westcats came in third place.

Winners were selected by the event organizers, Martie-Lynn Vavoudis and Tarah Wisner. They were presented with Olympic style medals and all participants received a free small ice-cream or taco from Maria's Mexican Restaurant.
