Wahkiakum County Public Works Director Chuck Beyer this week announced coming short term closures of the ferry Oscar B. and of State Road.

The ferry will be out of service next Monday, 5 a.m. to 2 p.m., to examine a new engine installed in February. Beyer said it may have a leaking valve, and the engine supplier is investigating as part of warranty service.

If further work on the engine, or replacement, is needed another closure will be scheduled, and the ferry will operate a regular schedule in the meantime.

Consolidated Diking District No. 1 of Puget Island wants to install a culvert on State Road, so the road will be closed September 16, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
