Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

December 2 – 7:13 a.m. A caller reported an erratic driver on SR 4 heading east in the Skamokawa area. 10:07 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported that a bank card had been used fraudulently. 10:28 a.m. The Department of Corrections requested assistance from the sheriff’s office at an Elochoman Valley home. 10:46 a.m. The Department of Corrections requested assistance from the sheriff’s office at a Puget Island home. An individual was taken into custody. 11:09 a.m. A caller reported that a package containing marijuana had been sent to an address on Altoona Pillar Rock Road. 11:34 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Skamokawa resident who may have suffered a stroke. 12:03 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported that she had been assaulted. 12:32 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance provided lift assistance to a Cathlamet resident. 2:07 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported that a neighbor’s dog had attacked his fence while he and his dog were by the fence. 3:25 p.m. A caller reported that he and his wife had been chased by two dogs on a Puget Island road while they were riding their bikes. A deputy spoke with the owner, who said he was attempting to fence the dogs. The sheriff’s office will file for Potentially Dangerous Dogs if there are additional complaints. 4:14 p.m. A caller reported suspicious activity at the refuge. A man was seen carrying what looked like a hunting rifle. There was a truck nearby without license plates and large containers in the back. 5:31 p.m. An alarm was accidentally set off at a Deep River home. 9:30 p.m. A driver was cited for driving with a suspended license.

December 3 – 9:57 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who had lost consciousness. 1:13 p.m. The Cathalmet ambulance responded to a Rosedale home when a resident’s lower legs turned purple. 2:30 p.m. A landlord reported that the tenant of a Cathlamet home had written him a check from a closed account. 4:17 p.m. Child Protective Services requested a welfare check on a mom and baby at a Puget Island home. A deputy found both in good health. 6:40 p.m. A caller reported that he had almost struck a cow on an Elochoman Valley road. The owner was notified.

December 4 – 1:20 a.m. Two people were detained by deputies after someone witnessed them walking around a Puget Island property with flashlights. A deputy contacted the homeowner who confirmed that the pair had permission to be there to pick up a travel trailer and some appliances. 9:25 a.m. A structure fire was reported in the Rosedale area. Deputies, the Cathlamet Fire Department, and the Puget Island Fire Department responded. 10:33 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who had fallen and may have broken a foot. 4:15 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance assisted a Puget Island resident.

December 5 – 7:27 a.m. A caller reported a power outage at an Elochoman Valley home. The District 4 Fire Department responded. 7:31 a.m. Deputies, the District 4 Fire Department, the Cathlamet ambulance, and the PUD responded to a one vehicle accident at the intersection of Elochoman Valley Road and Beaver Creek Road. A possible injury was reported. 12:36 p.m. A caller reported three horses running loose on the airport runway in Skamokawa. 1:23 p.m. State patrol located a driver and he was taken into custody after a caller notified the sheriff’s department that he had been drinking. 5:05 p.m. A welfare check was requested for a Rosedale resident after someone heard a disturbance at his home.

December 6 – 7:10 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided an ailing Rosburg resident. 8:14 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident with a heart problem. 8:15 a.m. A report was a received about a possible sexual assault that may have occurred sometime in the last few months. 9:33 a.m. A motorist reported that a truck was towing a trailer with a loose front bumper. 2:01 p.m. A caller reported that a cow was loose on an Elochoman Valley road. 3:29 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported an ailing individual in Cathlamet to the hospital. 3:42 p.m. The sheriff’s office received a referral for a Rosedale home from Adult Protective Services. A deputy responded. 3:55 p.m. A caller requested a jump start for a vehicle parked on Main Street in Cathlamet. 11:34 p.m. A caller requested a jump start for a vehicle stuck on East Valley Road.

December 7 – 9:14 a.m. A caller was concerned about horses, pigs, and calves on a Skamokawa property. The animals were in bad condition, according to the caller, and stuck in mud. A second statement was taken regarding the animals at the sheriff’s office window. 11:49 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Beaver Creek resident with pain on his left side. 4:28 p.m. An individual was taken into custody in the Nassa Point area. 6:49 p.m. A caller reported a suspicious person standing under a street light for several minutes on a Puget Island road. A deputy responded and discovered it was a dairy employee waiting for a ride. 11:29 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Little Cape Horn resident complaining of chest pain.

December 8 – 11:20 a.m. A Puget Island resident found a deceased deer. It’s head had been removed. 5:24 p.m. A caller reported that a pit bull had attacked his small dog in Cathlamet. The small dog was taken to the vet and had to be euthanized. 8:34 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported an aggressive pit bull in his driveway. He said it was an ongoing problem.
