December 28 — 10:03 a.m. A caller reported a lost wallet. 10:29 a.m. A caller reported that the bathrooms at Vista Park had been vandalized with spray paint. 10:36 a.m. A child alleged that a stepparent had spanked her with a flip flop at a Longview home and said she did not want to return, a caller reported. A deputy advised the caller to contact authorities in Longview. 11:30 a.m. A caller reported that someone had started a campfire on Steamboat Slough in the parking lot past Hornstra Beach. 4:34 p.m. An Alger Creek resident asked to speak to a deputy in order to file a report regarding ID theft. 8:02 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported hearing two shots fired. A deputy patrolled the area and did not see anything. 9:28 p.m. A caller reported that someone had struck his pig on Elochoman Valley Road. He did not see who had done it, and was waiting with the pig, which was blocking the southbound lane. A deputy responded and euthanized the animal.

December 29 — 12:38 a.m. A caller reported that a fugitive who had jumped bail was at a Cathlamet home. A deputy responded and the individual was taken into custody. 8:56 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported that a youth had come to his house, alleging that he had been kicked out of his own home. 12:50 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported finding goats on her property. She did not know who owned them. Dispatch attempted to contact a possible owner. The caller called again and said that she had spoken to someone who knew the owner. 12:51 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that he had been scammed out of $1,200 for a dog. 4:25 p.m. A Cathlamet business asked to have two customers trespassed after they refused to wear masks and would not leave. 4:56 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to a Grays River home after a caller said that the resident was incoherent and had been vomiting all weekend. The individual refused transport to the hospital.

December 30 — 10:27 a.m. Deputies and the Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who had been injured by a horse. When they arrived, they found that the horse had been injured but the resident was fine. 2:51 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that someone had shot and killed one of her cows. A deputy found the cow in a back field, but could not reach the animal to photograph it because of deep mud. The resident said she would notify the sheriff’s office when conditions improved. She said she had been hearing shooting for days and had been told it was duck hunters, but admitted she did not hear a shot around the time the cow died. 7:07 p.m. Child Protective Services requested a welfare check on two children in a Cathlamet home. When deputies attempted to make contact, they were told that the parent was trying to hide from CPS. The family was later located on Beaver Creek and appeared to be okay.

December 31 — 12:29 a.m. A caller reported that a TV was smoking in a motor home on East Sunny Sands. A deputy, the Cathlamet Fire Department, and the Puget Island Fire Department responded. It turned out that a leaking roof was causing the TV to spark. Someone from the PIFD returned with a tarp to temporarily stop the leak. A deputy requested a representative from the mental health department and the mental health department looked into temporary housing, but had none available. The Red Cross, Adult Protective Services, and Child Protective Services were contacted. 12:06 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a Rosedale resident. 1:28 p.m. A deputy responded to a two vehicle accident in the parking lot of a Rosedale business. No injuries were reported. 4:56 p.m. A caller reported a possible abandoned vehicle on SR 4 in the Deep River area. 7:17 p.m. A caller reported a possible fire at an Elochoman Valley property. The District 4 Fire Department responded. It turned out to be a large bonfire and all units were told they could stand down. 9:13 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported hearing shots fired. A deputy responded and said he thought they had been setting off fireworks in the area earlier.

January 1 — 10:32 a.m. A caller reported a vehicle in a ditch along SR 4 on the east side of KM. He didn’t see anyone around and could not tell if anyone was in the vehicle. A deputy and state patrol responded. 12:09 p.m. A caller reported that he found his tow dolly hooked to a vehicle parked at a Rosedale business. The item had been stolen from his property on Puget Island about a year ago, he said. A deputy responded and the tow dolly was taken for evidence. 5:29 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver leaving a Rosedale business. 8:14 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle had struck his vehicle, which was parked on Columbia Street, and torn off the driver’s mirror. 10:54 p.m. A caller reported hearing a domestic disturbance over the phone at a Puget Island home. A deputy responded and everything appeared to be okay. One person admitted to arguing on the phone with the individual who had contacted the sheriff’s office.

January 2 — 11:48 a.m. A caller reported finding a female German shepherd wandering down a Skamokawa road. A person from a local animal advocate group was notified, and she said they had not been contacted by anyone looking for a dog of that description. 2:51 p.m. A caller reported that she had lost her purse. 5:25 p.m. A tree had fallen and was blocking Altoona/Pillar Rock Road. The county road department responded.

January 3 — 8:32 a.m. A caller reported a cow on East Valley Road. The owner was notified. 12:13 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident complaining of abdominal pain after a nurse suggested he visit the emergency room.
