Swimmers missing from Vista Park

From a press release from the Wahkiakum County Sheriff's Office:

On August 6, 2022, at 12:04pm, the Wahkiakum County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a

camper at Vista Park. Three males had been swimming and now were out of sight. All were

from Guatemala, in the mid-twenties and had been camping at the park.

Immediately the Wahkiakum County Sheriff’s Department launched their boat and rescuer’s

from Cathlamet Ambulance, Skamokawa Aid and Wahkiakum Search and Rescue, Washington

State Department of Fish and Wildlife, Washington State Patrol and rescuer’s from a sailboat

race in the area responded to the scene.

One male was pulled to shore by a civilian on the beach. The other two are still missing. The

United States Coast Guard and the Wahkiakum County Sheriff’s Office is continuing the search.


At this time, we are not releasing the identity of the missing swimmers.
