Art contest winner announced

The 39th annual Great White Tail art contest winner is Olga Goldinov, a 5th grade student at J. A. Wendt Elementary. Olga will receive a shirt with her design along with $25. Her teacher, Mrs. Brown will also receive a shirt with the winning design. Second place is Ava Mendez, also a 5th grade student at J. A. Wendt. Tied for 3rd are Evan Bryant, 5th grade at J. A. Wendt and Alis Campbell, 1st grade at Naselle Grays River Valley. Second and 3rd place award winners will receive art supplies.

Honorable mentions include Connor Phelps, 2nd grade; Emmaline Vik, 3rd grade; Evelyn Smith, 2nd grade; Jaxxon Rutherford, 5th grade; Keely Cothren, 4th grade; Kendall Marsala, 2nd grade; Leah Gonzales, 5th grade and Olivia Johnson, 5th grade from J. A. Wendt. Jacob Sabey, 2nd grade; Nautical Barendse, 2nd grade and Shealean Glenn, 2nd grade from Naselle Grays River Valley.

The artwork will be on display at Tsuga Gallery in Cathlamet later this month. The Wahkiakum 4-H sponsored run is scheduled for May 20 on the Julia Butler Hansen Wildlife Refuge in Skamokawa. Entry for the run can be done online by going to the Wahkiakum 4-H website. Run brochures can be found at the Wahkiakum Extension Office located on River Street in Cathlamet.
