January 20 6:26 a.m. Cathlamet Ambulance responded to a Puget Island resident who was having a nosebleed. 10:26 a.m. A Grays River resident called to report that they found a dead bull elk on their neighbor’s property. 2:47 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a drug kit found in Cathlamet. 5:08 p.m. Cathlamet Fire Department responded to complaints of a toxic, burning smell on Beaver Creek Rd. firefighters found the fire and extinguished it.
January 21 10:01 a.m. Sheriff’s deputies responded to a burglary report on Rosburg School Rd.
January 22 8:28 a.m. A Skamokawa resident called to report that their neighbor’s cows are out again. 9:03 a.m. A driver on SR4 MP 28 called to report that an occupied car drove into the ditch. 9:12 a.m. A caller at the Cathlamet Library reported that two people had been sleeping in their car in the library parking lot. 3:50 p.m. A caller in Cathlamet just wanted to report they had almost hit someone with their vehicle and the pedestrian had tapped on the car to let her know they were there but there were no injuries. 7:51 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies assisted a driver who was locked out of their vehicle in Cathlamet.
January 23 1:03 p.m. A Puget Island resident called to report vandalism on their property that had occurred the day before when they were not home. 2:38 p.m. Deputies responded to a home burglary alarm going on off on 2nd St. in Cathlamet. 2:38 p.m. A Puget Island resident called to report an injured deer in their backyard. 3:31 p.m. Cathlamet Emergency Services assisted an elderly Puget Island resident who had fallen. 4:13 p.m. An elderly resident in Cathlamet called with pain in their right arm and requested an ambulance. 6:35 p.m. A concerned citizen on West SR4 called to report that two dark-colored helicopters had been flying very low in the area for several nights in a row, the Coast Guard said they had no helicopters in the area. 10:04 p.m. A driver on SR4 westbound called to report an erratic vehicle going at a high rate of speed.
January 24 12:31 a.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report an unknown truck and trailer parked in the driveway. 12:37 a.m. Cathlamet Ambulance performed a Covid test for a sick, elderly person in Cathlamet. 2:26 p.m. A concerned resident in Cathlamet called to request a welfare check on their elderly relative. 9:46 p.m. Cathlamet Emergency Services responded to a Skamokawa resident who was having high blood pressure. 10:38 p.m. A Puget Island resident called to report that they had received threatening phone calls from someone they knew.
January 25 1:52 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a Puget Island resident receiving threatening phone calls from a relative in Cowlitz County. 2:04 p.m. The Cathlamet Ambulance assisted an elderly Cathlamet resident who was having shortness of breath and difficulty breathing. 2:17 p.m. A Puget Island resident called to report that they had found a dead white tail deer. 7:46 p.m. A Puget Island resident called to report ongoing issues with their neighbor’s four big dogs who are barking all the time.
January 26 8:13 a.m. A caller on Puget Island reported that a twin-engine plane had been circling the island since before 6 a.m. 8:27 a.m. A concerned citizen reported hearing what they believe were gunshots fired out of a moving vehicle in the Wildlife Refuge, deputies found no evidence of criminal activity. 12:36 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies responded to an assault on Columbia St. and arrested one person.
