Sheriff's Report

April 28 8:32 a.m. Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of possible animal neglect at a Cathlamet residence. When deputies arrived, they found nothing concerning with the animal, which looked healthy and required no further police investigation. 3:31 p.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report that their boss had received a fraudulent e-mail from someone claiming to be them. The e-mail included some financial information and deputies informed the caller to take steps to safeguard their financial accounts. 6:05 p.m. Wahkiakum Sheriff’s deputies worked with Cowlitz Sheriff’s deputies to serve a warrant for the arrest of a Cathlamet resident and took one in custody. 9:25 p.m. A Cathlamet resident was concerned that a person known to them may do something to their property while they were gone in retaliation for an argument and asked deputies to check on the property.

April 22 9:04 a.m. A Deep River resident called to report that junk vehicles and properties from a neighboring property were pushing out onto the county roads. 4:21 p.m. A caller on SR4 called to report an erratic driver eastbound near Cathlamet who was slamming on their brakes and going at an inconsistent rate of speed. 5:53 p.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report that a dog chased their son and bit him. The bite was minor, and the dog was now at the neighbor’s house. 6:09 p.m. Deputies responded to a traffic accident between two vehicles whose drivers were displaying signs of road rage on SR4 near Flandersville. No injuries were reported in the accident. 9:08 p.m. The Cathlamet Emergency Services responded to assist an elderly Cathlamet resident who had fallen. 11:28 p.m. There were vehicles reported to be parked on the county right-of-way on Pleasant Point Rd., E Birnie Slough Rd., and Risk Rd.

April 23 6:59 a.m. A Skamokawa resident called to report that their small white dog had gotten out last night and still had not returned. The resident called back and reported that the dog had been found. 6:15 p.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report multiple instances of behavior from their neighbor that felt like harassment, and most recently, the neighbor reportedly drove down the caller’s road to pick up their dog in what appeared to be an attempt to antagonize them. The resident was advised to contact the court system to see what their options were.

April 24 12:27 p.m. Deputies responded to reports of a burglary on Ostervold Rd., where a resident reported that a boom box and chainsaw were missing from their property, but they weren’t sure exactly when they had been stolen. 12:44 p.m. A caller on Elochoman Valley Rd. reported several sheep and a donkey were loose and standing next to the road. 1:02 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies attempted to serve six junk vehicle affidavits on East Valley Road but could not contact the vehicle owners. 1:04 p.m. A welfare check was requested for an elderly Grays River resident, whom the caller was concerned did not have any electricity. 6:48 p.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report being harassed after an unknown vehicle drove past their home and yelled a slur out the window at them. 8:18 p.m. A Puget Island resident called to report that they believed they had been sold a stolen motorcycle because, after trading their vehicle for the motorcycle, the seller blocked them on social media. 9:58 p.m. The Grays River Fire Department responded to assist an elderly Grays River resident who needed assistance getting into their home due to mobility limitations. 10:14 p.m.

April 25 5:19 a.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report their elderly spouse missing after they had gone out to check a loud noise over an hour earlier. The caller could not go check themselves due to mobility issues and requested a deputy perform a welfare check; the spouse returned shortly after the call. 5:29 a.m. A Puget Island resident called to report two large dogs roaming around outside their house. Deputies contacted the owner, who was en route to pick the dogs up. 6:12 a.m. A concerned Rosburg resident called to report that an unknown vehicle had been suspiciously driving up and down their road very slowly past the residences. 9:20 a.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report that a llama and donkey were loose and in the roadway. 10:07 a.m. Sheriff’s deputies responded to a Cathlamet resident’s report that their neighbor was tearing up the roadway and chasing them in a tractor. 11:25 a.m. A Grays River resident called to report that unwanted dogs were in their yard chasing their horses. WAAG was notified and took possession of the dogs. 12:01 p.m. The Cathlamet Ambulance responded to assist an elderly Cathlamet resident who had fainted. 1:13 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies served a warrant and took one into custody in Cathlamet. 4:01 p.m. The Cathlamet Emergency Services responded to assist an elderly Cathlamet resident who was sick. 6:17 p.m. The Cathlamet Ambulance responded to assist an elderly Puget Island resident who had fallen. 7:43 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies and the District 4 Fire Department responded to a traffic accident where a vehicle struck a brick wall behind the courthouse. The driver of the vehicle was transported to the hospital.

April 26 8:51 a.m. A caller at Erickson Park reported finding a large pile of trash they believe was left behind by a group of people near the tennis courts. 8:56 a.m. A resident on Crown Camp Rd. called to report a power outage; PUD was notified and soon restored power. 4:13 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of theft on Beaver Creek Rd. where a resident said the wheels from their mower deck had been stolen within the last 24 hours. 6:41 p.m. A Deep River resident called to report that a vehicle had been driving at a high rate of speed past their house several times that day and wanted it logged with the Sheriff’s office.

April 27 1:36 p.m. A caller on E SR4 reported that an erratic driver near Flandersville was repeatedly braking suddenly and coming to a complete stop on the highway. 11:16 p.m. A business owner on Main Street in Cathlamet called to report that a trailer and a vehicle had been dumped in the parking lot of their business.
