Author Talk with Dayle Olson

On Saturday, Oct. 11 at 6 p.m., the Cathlamet Library will kick off the first night of its Author Talk series at the Pioneer Community Center with Dayle Olson. Dayle is a Lower Columbia poet who came to Cathlamet after living most of her life in Tacoma. In 2024, she won first prize for prose poetry in the Oregon Poetry Association annual contest. Dayle was also a recent "Northwest Voices" featured writer at Lower Columbia College, where she led a workshop and read at Longview Public Library. Her work appears in "North Coast Squid Magazine," "The Salal Review," "RAIN Magazine," and other literary journals.

During the event, Dayle will read poems which appear in her chapbook collection "From the Dead Letter Department," which was published this summer by Moonstone Press of Philadelphia. This chapbook was selected as an Honorable Mention in their 2024 chapbook contest. These poems speak to change and loss while maintaining a sense of wonder as the natural world finds new ways to delight and surprise us. A short selection of children's poems will also be read. The chapbook will be available for purchase and signing after the reading.

The Pioneer Community Center is located at 125 Columbia St. in Cathlamet.
