Artist of the month

Tsuga Gallery announces Debbie Patana as the artist of the month for April. Debbie is one of our newest artists. She recently moved from Chinook, Wash., to Skamokawa with her husband, Richard (Pat). Debbie grew up in Southern California, where she enjoyed the ocean and the landscape. She dabbled with stained glass for several years and loved the endless possibilities and colors that glass gives. In 1992, Debbie opened her own gallery and glass supply in Chinook. She did well with the stained glass, but the cost of materials was getting expensive, so she started looking for alternatives. Patana found that alternative in fused glass. Her fused glass pieces are very striking and colorful. Debbie likes to make flowers, large and small, but the colors are what brings her pieces to life. She also likes to make abstract art pieces, often using left over or broken glass. All her pieces capture the light and reflect the colors she uses. Stop by and see her fantastic art in person. Tsuga Gallery is located at 70 Main St. in Cathlamet and is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
