WILD ONE--This past weekend had us listening to rolling thunder, accompanied by some flashy lightning and we saw and heard some very heavy rains, along with howling winds! I was happy that we didn't lose power throughout the nastiest part of this event, but we did lose it for about an hour during a calm period on Sunday evening, which seemed weird. While I certainly wasn't expecting it to happen during the calmest part of the day, at least I was prepared for it. A big thank you to the PUD crew for having our power back on in such a short time!...
CHANGING--After a warm and sunny weekend, with just a bit of mist Sunday morning, it looks like we may be in for some real weather changes for the weekend. Friday looks to be the start of several days of rain, so while it's not great for those with weekend plans, I know all of us living amongst the dry forests are truly hoping to see some decent rainfall out of this to help negate some of our fire danger. With these systems often falling apart before they reach us, we're keeping our fingers crossed that this time we actually get some of this mu...
CLOUDY BEGINNING--As this week begins, it's a bit cloudy but still fairly warm, so it's pretty good weather to be working outside. The rest of the week looks to be a mix of sun and clouds and comfortable temperatures, so those days will be enjoyable. However, it will also be interesting to see if the hot days forecast for this past Tuesday and Wednesday actually happen or not. SPECIAL DAYS--Those celebrating birthdays from Sept 9-15 are Carla Keilwitz, Edward Johnson, Amanda Poler, Brittnie Helms-Lampitt, Jamie Nielsen, Tina Schubert, Shayne...
SOME DAMPNESS--Our past weekend was pretty nice, after thick fog in the morning hours. A couple days prior to that though, we had some "heavy mist" here and I thought that was just great! Not everybody got damp like we did west of Skamokawa, but hey, I'll gladly take any moisture that comes our way these days. This week's forecast is for some pretty decent days with a few clouds but warming up by the time you read this. SPECIAL DAYS--Those celebrating birthdays from Sept. 2-8 are Quin Bassi, Tristan Collupy, Glenn Wiest, Kathy McNally, Chuck...
COOLER--We have started out this week with some morning drizzle, which was nice to settle the dust for a bit and give the leaf feeding plants a little moisture, so that was great. However, it's usually back to dryness by noon and depending on where you were, it was either "mostly cloudy" or "mostly sunny" as we all know that the weather from Skamokawa to Cathlamet can be completely different on any given day! If weather models hold up, the weekend may actually be sunnier and warmer, so I'm sure that would be great for all of those trying to get...
COOLER/WET?--According to the forecast, we may actually see some showers this week but as of Monday morning, it was just cloudy, but drizzle Tuesday morning was a possibility. We'll also have to wait and see if the Friday forecast for 30 percent chance of drizzle comes true, and considering it's Fair time, well, we almost expect it! You see, it's sort of a running joke with all us locals as it can be dry for weeks and months on end but come Fair time, well, we wind up with some rain! Not always of course, but about 9 out of 10 times, I'd say...
DAMPNESS/HEAT--As this new week begins, we are enjoying a mild, dry day after a pretty good soaking on Saturday. Here in West Valley, it was a nice steady mist which lasted most of the day and I was very thankful for that. However, temperatures are on the rise again and it could bring temperatures back up into those dangerous mid-90s or higher range, so I hope everyone has prepared themselves for that. Please keep yourself and all your critters hydrated and remember, the sun is not your friend if you're out in it very long, even with...
STILL DRY--While we have had some morning clouds and it's been cooler in our area, compared to the areas east of us, it's still plenty dry out there, so I can only hope that the forecast for showers at the end of this week, actually materialize. As seen by our tree lined highways, our once very green trees are really looking very burned and while it was just the Cedar trees that looked bad at first, now it's the Fir, Hemlock and Spruce trees as well, so that's really alarming as I don't remember ever seeing them look this way. Needless to say,...
STILL DRY--While Germany, Belgium and other countries are getting hammered by massive amounts of rain, and even our southern states are getting wet, most of us around our area are staying pretty doggone dry. Some areas got some slight mist, but for the most part, dry is the word for the month and it looks to stay that way until this month is over and even into the next one, so please continue to be vigilant when it comes to fire or anything that could accidently start one. I hope you're able to sufficiently keep yourselves and your animals...
LOOKING GOOD--As this week begins, we started out with a very sunny Sunday morning and with temps in the low 80s, it's just what the hay makers wanted to see. The forecast is looking dry with maybe a few days with a bit of cloudiness and temperatures in the low 70s, so that's sounding perfect to me. FIRE DANGER--It's still very important to be wary of anything that could cause a spark which could start a fire. As we have seen, there are thousands of acres in our Pacific NW area that are currently burning out of control and we really don't want...
STILL WARM--It's not blazing hot outside like it was for awhile there, but it's still plenty warm, so don't forget to keep that hat on and slather the sunscreen on as well, as it doesn't take much to become a "crispy critter" when you're out on the water or playing on the beach! The forecast this week for temps in the high 60s and low 70s are much more welcomed to me, so here's hoping that these perfect temps continue for our upcoming big events this weekend; fingers crossed! SPECIAL DAYS--Those celebrating birthdays from July 15-21 are Mariett...
COOLER--I don't know about you but these cloudy mornings, with sunny afternoons and more moderate temperatures, like in the 70s, is just right for me! I think the plants enjoyed a break from the intense heat as well, as there were many trees and shrubs showing a lot of burned areas on them, along with the curling, dead leaves on other plants. From some of the pictures I saw, some very sunburned people might be happier without the extreme heat too! SPECIAL DAYS--Those celebrating birthdays from July 8-14 are Jaiden Mahitka, Irene Martin, Patty...
HOT HOT HOT--Hot was the word for this past weekend and the start of this week, so for all you sun lovers, I hope you got your fill of it, as the rest of us folks who don't enjoy it as much, have had plenty of it! Being nice and warm is one thing, but once temps climb into the 90-100 range, it's just so dangerous for man and beast, that I really dread it. I hope all of you came through this heat bubble unscathed, as getting sunburned or having health problems from too much heat is not only miserable, but in some cases, can be deadly. Let's...
PRETTY NICE--We had a very toasty Monday and if the forecast holds true, we've got another batch of hot days as well, so I hope you're all staying well hydrated and as cool as possible. However, our Tuesday morning "drizzle" was definitely a surprise, but probably not for those in the midst of making hay. Let's hope it's just a brief amount and it dries out in no time and the hay makers and beachcombers are happy once again by the time you read this. BE RESPONSIBLE--This is also the time that we hear many, many horror stories of animals and...
SOGGY--We ended last week with a gorgeous day, as Saturday was just super sunny, but we have started this week, with a whole lot of rain this Sunday! The first part of this week may be on the damp side, but not to fret, as our Monday morning has been pretty nice and forecasters say by Wednesday, the skies should be drying out and we'll have a nice long stretch of dry and warmer weather, so that should make those "hay makers" happy! SPECIAL DAYS--Those celebrating birthdays from June 17-23 are Jason Ledtke, Keith Hoofnagle, Bobby Helms, Danny...
WEATHER--This week has begun with quite a soaker and Sunday night was pretty wild with lots of wind along with those downpours, so it was not a night to be out and about, that's for sure; although you may have had to chase down a garbage can lid or two if you didn't have them fastened on good! After a tumultuous night, we awoke to sunshine on Monday morning, and that was much more to everyone's liking. It appears that the rest of this whole week is going to be on the damp side except for next Monday, but the forecast can change from hour to...
NICE ONE--Unless you hate the sunshine, I don't think you could complain about the weather this past weekend and holiday, as it was very nice outside and certainly a great break from the previous rainy days we had. We enjoyed perfect temperatures here over the weekend I thought, but it sure warmed up on Monday and Tuesday, so those upper 80s were a bit toasty for me. However, for those who like the heat, I bet you were in seventh heaven! Unfortunately, it looks like we'll be cooling off this weekend and may even see some raindrops once again,...
NOT BAD--After some morning cloudiness, last Saturday turned out pretty decent although I still think the wind was a tadbit chilly, but then I suppose it all depended on where you were. Sunday morning was a different story as it was all wet when I got up and we had misty and/or cool conditions most of the day. The upcoming Memorial weekend was looking wet but the latest weather models are showing a much improved outlook, so let's hope that holds as it would certainly be nice to have a dry weekend, but it looks like we'll have to get through...
NICE ONE--I don't know where you were this past weekend, but around here, we had a pretty nice one. We had morning clouds but by noon, it was back to sunshine, along with a bit of a breeze; it was really quite nice. Personally, I could do without the wind but for the sail-boarders, it was just perfect! I hope you were able to get out and about on the sunny days we've been having, and if all goes according to the latest report, we will continue to have pretty decent days with just a chance of showers on maybe one or two days, so hopefully you we...
NOT BAD--It looks like this is going to be a pretty decent week for weather, with mostly sunny and mild temperatures, so I hope you've been enjoying it as it appears the rains will return in a few days, so we have to enjoy these nice days while we have them. At the moment, it may not be super sunny but at least it's not pouring down rain like it was at times this past weekend, so we'll take all the dry spells we can get, cloudy or not! SPECIAL DAYS--Those celebrating birthdays from May 13-19 are Christeena Bassi, Bryce McClain, Tayler...
HERE WE GO!--We're almost a week into another new month, and I have to tell you that I'm sure somebody has sped up the ole time machine, as these days are flying by! Our last weekend was mostly just cloudy on Saturday after rain on Friday night and Sunday was a bit cool and foggy in some areas in the early morning hours but it got nice and sunny and made for a great afternoon outside. I heard we may be in for a damp weekend, which is kind of the pits, but we really do need the rain. You really notice this if you're trying to just "pull" weeds,...
GRAY BEGINNING--It's a gray and drippy Monday morning to start the week and it looks like we will be fairly cloudy with a couple more drizzly days in the week ahead. However, if the forecast proves true, we will see temps in the 70's on Thursday, only to return to rain on Friday and Sunday. If it does turn sunny and nice, be sure to get out there and take advantage of it as it may not last too long. There is always the hope that the forecast changes, as there's nothing more fickle than the weather around our area! SPECIAL DAYS--Those celebratin...
GORGEOUS--I hope all this sunny weather hasn't worn you out, as I know people were really out and about this past week, as the sunshine brought everybody out to soak up some Vitamin D, which we all needed! It was great to have such a nice stretch of dry weather for a change. However, I understand that our rains may return this weekend, so I hope you got your outside projects done before they returned. FIRE DANGER--The biggest down-side of having all this dry weather was that officials had to order a burn ban, as things were bone dry and we've...
NICE BEGINNING--As this week begins, it's a sunny Sunday morning around here, but it also started out very nippy, as it was only 24 degrees when we got up, so, we are truly hoping the warmer weather scheduled for the rest of the week, comes true. Those who had already started planting their gardens, found themselves scrambling to cover up their seedlings so they wouldn't freeze as solid as my water buckets did! Here's to "fun in the sun" and a nice dry spell, which I'm sure we would all appreciate as we head into the second half of April. Just...
NICE SURPRISE--I was so happy to see that our Easter weekend weather was not the drippy one that we had all feared, but instead we enjoyed some very wonderful sunshine and warmer temperatures, so that was awesome! Nothing cheers a person up like having sunshine to bask in during a time when family is coming for dinner and the little ones look forward to outdoor Easter egg hunts, so, this was a great weekend indeed! We woke up Monday morning to temperatures below freezing once again, so that 27 degrees made outdoor morning chores a bit nippy. I...
