On Saturday, a crowd of people braved the rain to see the Christmas lights come on at the Wahkiakum County Courthouse. They huddled under awnings next door and across the street, beneath the tent or umbrellas. Some just stood in the rain, which came and went. The event began at 4:30 p.m. The lights were set on a timer for 5 p.m., and despite the chill and the wet, the congregation was smiling and laughing. Patient. Shops were open around town and there were vendors in the Cathlamet Hotel lobby....

To The Eagle: Life is in motion, Life is motion. The more motion there is the more life there is. If your life is not as you want it, create some motion. Any motion; but be aware that motion that is pro-survival enhances ones life while non-survival motion decreases life potential. Yes it is that way, sorry to say. Example: Let’s say I have a vehicle I would like to sell. I can either sit here at my desk and “wish” the darn thing would sell and someone would come along and buy it. Likely it will not sell. (No Motion.) Or, I get my body movin...

GRAY & WET--As we ended November, I think we broke a record for being one of the wettest Thanksgivings here at our house ever, as we had 3.89 inches of rain that day! Although there were many areas who were seeing a soggy day, I don't think there were many who were seeing that kind of rainfall, lucky us! I am truly grateful that the power didn't go out and that we just dealt with the usual high water and field flooding but nothing that was extrodinarily bad. Curious as to our rainfall amount here for the year? Well, in our valley, we're up to...

When the new wastewater plant was constructed and the sewer lagoons emptied, the Town of Cathlamet was left with the question of what to do with the three acre site along the waterfront. The grant brought planners and landscape architects from NPS to town to help TOC, their partners and the community through the process...

SOME OF BOTH--Once again, it depended on where you were and what time you were there, as to what kind of weather you had this past weekend. At times it was quite balmy and clear, while the next night or morning might be socked in with fog and other times, the clouds would come in and drizzle on us a bit, and one night it rained hard and blew pretty good, while others didn't feel a thing, so there was definitely a mixed bag of weather. This week shows rain and clouds and some drying periods as well, so it looks like we're just into typical Fall...
