SOME DAMPNESS--We got a bit of rain last weekend; it was nice to dampen the dust for a bit. Of course, if you had hay bales in the field, that wasn't so great but hopefully you were able to get them dried out with the sunshine on Sunday. Needless to say, the weather by Monday afternoon was "steamy" as the wet ground and sunshine made for an uncomfortable amount of humidity, so I'll be happier if we don't have much more of that! SPECIAL DAYS--Those celebrating birthdays from July 16-22 are Jerry Ledtke, Pam Elliott, Rick Benfit, Bev Moonen,...

She was present as the gallery opened on the...

WARM ENOUGH?--If you're a heat lover, you've certainly enjoyed the last couple of weeks, as it's been pretty toasty! I'm sure the folks selling AC units and fans have been happy for the extra sales and there's sure to have been an abundance of outdoor style furniture, BBQ's and coolers sold, so that's a good thing. I'm not so sure that the folks selling fireworks were quite as busy. Many errored on the side of caution and didn't buy any this year, but better safe than sorry. At any rate, I hope...

Dry weather has reduced levels in the Elochoman River which is the source of water for the town and Puget Island systems. “We are very low,” Mayor Dale Jacobsen said. “Storage is full, but if we had a fire it would be hard to recover.” He suggests that residents carry on with water use that is considered vital, like bathing, laundry, cooking, or watering a vegetable garden....
