Commissioners agreed to hold a workshop next Tuesday, 1 p.m., to work on an ordinance to regulate application of biosolids in the county. To The Eagle: During the last week of March 2010, I purchased a mattress from a store in Kelso for the sum of about $500. This mattress was purchased with the thought that it would be beneficial to my wife as she suffers from an arthritic spine. For a few months all went well. In early autumn my wife started to complain about the mattress being uncomfortable. Finally in December, we inspected the mattress. There was an almost two inch sag in the mattress. We then contacted the store about this problem. We were told that we had to have...
To The Eagle: I want to thank Mr. Kimmel for his letter (The Eagle December 16, 2010) entitled “Vendetta” and addressed to me. My thanks and that of many people in Wahkiakum County go to Mr. Kimmel for reminding all of us that the management of Cathlamet’s Fire Department and Emergency Medical Service (EMS) needs to be addressed. The managers of our FD and EMS still have not answered my questions (The Eagle December 9, 2010) or inquiries of the mayor or city council, thus avoiding transparency. A small but relevant oversight by the FD/EM...

WILD ONE--Last Saturday was a wild one fr awhile, as the wind came up and was just wreaking havoc in several places. Some cars in the Costco parking lot were not overly impressed with the windy weather when a culvert from a neighboring construction site took flight and landed on their vehicles. Wow, that would have ruined your day wouldn't it? Around our neck of the woods, we just had a lot of limbs scattering the roadways and some patio furniture had to be rescued by some East Valley residents, but I hadn't heard of anything real bad. On Monda...

Members included citizens Bob Hake, Lori Scott and Tony Aegerter and three county...

GRAY BEGINNING--The first couple of days of this week have been gray and drizzly but the sun came up Tuesday morning while temperatures dropped below freezing. They say we're going to have some clear but colder temps, so I hope you are prepared for that. Despite the mild temperatures we had the last week in January, this is still winter. Remember when the water line to Puget Island froze and broke? I bet everyone on Puget Island does! Let's hope we don't get that kind of weather again, as it was registering zero degrees in West Valley that day...
