By Rick Nelson Wahkiakum County's property tax and special assessment collections will decline 15 percent this year, Assessor Bill Coons announced at the weekly meeting of the county board of commissioners on Tuesday. Coons said total property tax and special assessment collections will be $4.15 million in 2019, down from $4.9 million in 2018. This is a reduction of $733,680, he said. While traveling over the KM Mountain one day in a fog, I suddenly came into a clear area where I could see the valley below covered in fog as the sun filtered through as if the forest below was covered with various colors of cotton candy. Donald Theodore Zilmer of Aberdeen passed away Saturday, December 1st, 2018 at Grays Harbor Community Hospital. He was 85. Donald was born on March 9, 1933 to Otto and Lydia Zilmer in Belgrade, MN where he grew up. He met his wife Kathy at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN as both were recovering from surgery. Dolores Nadine Nelson, 87, of Rosburg, died December 6, 2018 at Canterbury Gardens in Longview. She was born December 31, 1930 to Rudolph and Ellen (Keranen) Larson.
