On Monday, Wahkiakum Health and Human Services (WHHS) Director Chris Bischoff reported six new cases of covid-19 among Wahkiakum County residents. On Monday, the Washington State Department of Transportation’s (WSDOT) emergency contractor Big River Excavating began clearing debris to make way for a temporary road around a damaged section of SR 401 south of Naselle with the intent of restoring travel along SR 401 between Naselle and Megler by mid-April. Movin' On: Yesterday was Sunday and the traffic changed on Loop Road in front of my house. For the 17 years I've lived here, I've watched weekend visitors drive by to the bridge. First, they go by to get to the bridge, then they go by to get back to SR 4, so I assume they went to the Covered Bridge. The Naselle/Grays River Valley School District Board of Directors held its monthly meeting on March 16. In personnel matters, the board approved the hire of Scott Smith, head track coach and Kathryn Green, assistant track coach, along with Rick La Greide, as middle school track coach. The Finnish American Folk Festival group in Naselle was given the gift of a building in Naselle.They have succeeded in using it as the Naselle Community Center for over two years. They are entering their third year and because of the pandemic, they are now asking for help to continue upkeep and maintenance costs.
