Anglers fishing for halibut in Washington waters will have more halibut to catch during the 2019 season compared to recent years. Recreational halibut seasons announced by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) are based on a statewide quota of 277,100 pounds, up by an average of 19 percent over the past three years. On April 18 at noon, WSU Master Gardener Alice Slusher will discuss the tips she uses to produce a bountiful crop of red tomatoes. Evelyn Clark, a Wahkiakum High School graduate, will represent Washington in the 2019 Miss USA pageant which will air live on Fox on May 2 at 8 p.m. EDST. The Lower Columbia College Fighting Smelt Speech and Debate Team earned several awards and other honors at Phi Rho Pi Nationals in Reno, NV. Phi Rho Pi is the national forensic association representing two-year colleges. Its weeklong national tournament is considered the premier end-of-season speech and debate competition for community college students.
