SPECIAL DAYS--Those celebrating birthdays from Aug. 9-15 are Marsha Helms, Treasure Collupy, Judy Smith, Tim Schmitz,...

  • Art and boat festivals will fill the weekend

    Kay Chamberlain|Aug 2, 2018

HOT ENOUGH?--When it's 76 degrees by 10 a.m., here in West Valley, I know it's going to be a warm one. I am sure the heat lovers are rejoicing but I opted to hide in the basement this last Sunday, as I had gotten toasty enough just trying to get the morning water chores accomplished. However, as Monday morning showed up, we awoke to moisture. I could hardly believe it! While other areas were still sunny and dry, we got that marine layer in and it was quite wet, which certainly made my plants and lawn happy, so I'm not complaining. This sudden...

    Patty Dursteler|Aug 2, 2018

Greetings from the fair office. Wow! What an awesome show from the "Challenge of Champions." Hope everyone there had a great time. It was pretty spectacular to see the support for the first big event our arena has had. Next year the seating will be better. The fair has received a grant from the Washington State Department of Agriculture to purchase bleachers so we will have plenty of seating and it won't be in (kindergarden bleachers) they will be similiar to the ones in front of the stage. So mark your calendars now for the event. Now on to...

  • Community invited to annual pig roast

    Trudy Fredrickson|Aug 2, 2018

I’m not sure how everyone else is dealing with all the heat and dry weather for the past few weeks, but I’m ready for rain, lots of rain. My well is about dry and it’s quite nerve wracking. I don’t even dare to mow, as I am afraid hitting a rock will spark the dry grass and cause a huge fire. Be safe everyone. News from Naselle: FinnFest 2018 is now a part of history and what a great event for all to enjoy. With the food, flowers, music, dancing, all the displays and lectures, how could anyone find anything to criticize? It was amazing...
